Well, since there's not much going on right now...

NBA.com has a MVP Poll and Kobe is leading right now (40%) and Nash is 1% behind Billups. I voted for Nash of course but I am not going to duplicate my vote.

Since Kobe has went on this scoring tear, the Lakers have dropped 8, that's EIGHT games behind Nash and the Suns. I'd rather have Nashes double digit assists and win total over Kobe's scoring.

Exactly my mindset.

I've always thought that the Most Valuable Player award was given to the player who had the biggest impact on his team's success.

Granted, without Kobe, the Lakers are fighting the Bobcats, Hawks and Raptors for the first pick in the draft, but regardless of that, the fact that Phoenix is battling Dallas, San Antonio and Detroit for the NBA's BEST RECORD without the services of Amare makes me think he at least deserves some recognition.

I've always thought MVP is the most valuable player in the league and not just to the team. Team Record is important because who would think a player on a losing team is the "most valuable" player? Yeah, that losing team may suffer without "their" MVP but to the league, that's not the type of MVP that people should admire for.

MVP should be and is always the Top 3 team (or close to that). Winning record is what teams strive for and not Mediocracy. Kobe is an excellent player but for him to win the award, his team must be at least top 3-5. I don't see why the players should admire a MVP who is not on a good record team.

I have nothing against Kobe. I don't mind Kobe winning the MVP if his team is doing great...which is not.

Oh yeah, I was reading on NBA.com and there's a column that talks about the "50 Greatest Players" and there are 8 unofficial and active players that hope to hear their names and Steve Nash might be one of them! lol I guess winning the MVP makes everything easy....

I also see Lebron James is on it. Well, I won't give that honor him that quick... I mean give him more years please. I mean LB hasn't even played any single playoff game yet!! geeze.

I really don't like having active players on that kind of list.

Well, another good read:
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=jones/060215

I think Nash has a good chance repeating it... it really all depends on:

1.) Kobe: If Lakers can be a 50W team (much like how Jordan won it).

2.) Dirk: If Mavs can stay this hot. But Dirk doesn't have a better season than he did last season when he was 3rd in MVP voting, so what makes him a better MVP candidate this season?

3.) Pistons effect.

4.) Lebron James. If his team can end up with very outstanding record.

I am seeing more and more articles about Nash repeating the MVP. Even the TNT Crew (Kenny and Charles) claimed Nash is the MVP again. All these help. :D

Seriously, do you think Nash can repeat it this year?? I think this is the last year Nash has the chance to be mentioned as MVP. In fact, this is like the PERFECT year for Nash (again!).

Oh, I want to add that I won't be too disappointed if Nash doesn't win because repeating it is just too wishful thinking. I am fine with Kobe and Lebron. I think only these two have legit shots. Sorry, I am not a Billups fan and even though Billups is the point guard of that team, I feel Prince/Hamilton are just equally as important to their success. It's hard to say which Piston starter has the greatest impact since they've been so good together for quite some times.

Yep, I remember. The people who created the list sure knew something though. I do no think that there is one person that thinks that he does not belong.
