The Nets are off to a bad start after being built to be a legitimate contender in the East. They will be desperate for a road win. Dragic intends to play tonight but I would not be surprised if he is a late scratch. The game is scheduled to start at 7PM, Arizona time.

The following are the projected starting lineups for tonight's game per Paul Coro at azcentral in an article dated 11-15-13.

Nets (2-5) at Suns (5-3) … 7 p.m. Phoenix tip

C: Brook Lopez … Miles Plumlee

PF: Kevin Garnett … Channing Frye

SF: Paul Pierce … P.J. Tucker

SG/PG: Joe Johnson … Goran Dragic

PG: Deron Williams … Eric Bledsoe

Key Nets injuries: None.

Key Nets reserves: Jason Terry, Mason Plumlee, Andray Blatche, Reggie Evans, Shaun Livingston, Jason Terry.

Man on paper that's a good nets team but they lack some youth as they are overly veteran laden. Not sure Kidd was the right hire as coach for such a team as well.
But they have two of the most over paid/rated players in Johnson and Williams.

What's sad is they both tried to move on to greener pastures when they had a nice starting point already but got too big headed.

i have always thought he should have started out as an assistant. I don't see how he can properly coach the veterans on that team. How seriously will they take him.

The coaching problem is exacerbated by the fact that the team has no #1 guy. They have a bunch of #2s and #3s. Williams should be the leader by default, but it's not his personality. Garnett is the most likely candidate to step in, but his role on the court is so minimal that he'd have a hard time establishing any credibility.

On paper we are outmatched at every position (maybe with the exception of pg, but you have to give DWill the nod because Bledsoe is so new).

Yet that team reminds me of the Gary Payton, Karl Malone, Lakers. They were an old all-star team that could not seem to mesh and did not have the physical skills any longer. Honestly, it looks like a dream team put together by some poster on a message board somewhere.

I cannot see Jason Kidd as the right choice as a coach. Personally, I don't think he has the personality for it (I think the same thing about Steve Nash), and he certainly doesn't have the experience. A few years as an assistant would have helped alot.

The Nets will be looking for a breakout game... our guys haven't taken anyone lightly yet and I hope they don't do it tonight or the Brookies might get it. We need to tire their old legs... a good time to unleash Ish - keep the pressure on them and make sure Dragic has a lot left for the fourth quarter. Hopefully, Miles will school his younger brother after he stymies Lopez.

I don't know if Garnett was ever a #1 guy. He finally had championship success when he could play second fiddle to Pierce (a close second fiddle, but still second).

Do you think the old farts have recovered yet from their 21 point smackdown at the hands of the 2-5 Sacramento Kings on Wed. night?

debatable, but they're both past their prime and we know Williams or Johnson aren't #1 guys.

They are at times. I think you're better off with someone other than Johnson or Williams as your number 1 but I don't see how anyone can say they haven't been that or been viewed as that. Look around the league, can you find 30 guys better than either of those guys? Maybe you can but most rankings would put them up there. Personally, I'd rather have Bledsoe than either of them but I'm an unabashed homer.

I get the sense that the "Veteran Laided" Nets planned to be taking it easy until the end of the year when the playoffs started so they wouldn't waste their legs early. I think that plan is backfiring a bit. Gotta play hard - no such thing as easy wins and coasting into the playoffs.

They will get things worked out and back on track soon enough.

I think the "veteran laden" Nets are too far over the hill. Garnett has been a liability more often than not for a couple of years now. Pierce is showing his age although he is still capable of having a huge night every now and then. Williams and Johnson are stars but Lopez is their best player. I think the problem is less the three remaining stars from the Nets and more the waste of space they traded their future for. It seemed like a horrible idea at the time and it doesn't look any better today. With three legitimate stars they should still make the playoffs but carrying that dead weight from Boston keeps them from being true contenders IMO.

The Nets have the same problem that last year's Lakers had...too damn old.

If they had the same roster they do now back in 2005 or 2006, they would be the heavy favorites to win it all and would be killing it. That's even without Brook Lopez who wouldn't be on the roster back then.

Dragic's behind the back move is extremely deadly. I can't think of another NBA player who does it better than him.

Shaun Livingston with 12 points in the first half. Who was that Williams fellow?
