a bunt w/ two outs....a. beltran must have been playing in the outfield...there's no way shea would have made it....

btw. hariston (?) should have least been able to lay some wood on the ball - his strikeout (2nd out) really put a kabosh on that inning.

Wonder how long it will take for Pedrique to get over the awe and intimidation - he was absolutely thrilled to get the game ball from RJ, and apparently felt he personally should check on Randy after the ninth-inning error-by-committee (which got him furiously booed, all of us thinking he was pulling Randy.)
Why not view Al's visit to the mound as a half-full rather than half-empty?

He got booed because it's become standard that Managers visit the mound only to pull their pitcher. Al took the initiative to break the mood, most probably with no intention of pulling Randy.

If an infielder came over to do it, we'd be praising him. I believe that this is a sign of Al Pedrique's skill at communications with his players. Even with RJ. And RJ giving Al the game ball certainly showed support on his part.

With Beltre playing so far back at 3B, Shea's idea to bunt in the tying run was awesome. It's too bad his execution wasn't. The result was no worse than a groundout to 2B.

And I, too, wonder why Al Pedrique pulled Webb.

Shea, as far as I can tell, has one successful sac bunt in his entire career. I don't recall ever seeing him try a bunt hit. He's not a skilled bunter (obviously) and he's not that fast out of the box. Just any old bunt wouldn't have worked - placement was important. It was a foolish idea esp. since he has been hitting very well recently. A low percentage play at a critical point.

was he ever named to the all-star team via the public voting? if not, do you know when we might find out?

He's not a reserve as of yet. Its possible that he could be the last man on the All Star Roster.

You have to vote for him though on mlb.com

Has Fossum ever pitched a game where he HASN'T given up 3+ runs?

This is one tough season. Let's hope the second half shows improvements. I hope we get to see some of the kids like Jackson, Snyder and Tererro.

I'm in San Diego so I couldn't watch the game but I saw in the box score that Bruney looked like he threw pretty well. Considering he's a big part of the future of this team and has been groomed in the minors to be a closer, does anyone think Pedrique will put him at the end of our bullpen since Koplove is obviously better suited for matchup pitching?

Does anyone have a clue what Pedrique will do? Including Al hisself? Stay tuned! Uncharted waters. Again.

I seem to recall suggesting a playoff game between what was then the Jethawks vs. the DBacks for who would have BOB this season. Now most of those guys are in El Paso - although Wally Backman clearly is a better manager than Scott Coolbaugh - so let's put together our own internal 'futures' team, Backman in charge, and play for possession of BOB for the second half. :D

Diamondbacks winning 2-0 over the Giants in the 3rd. How sweet would it be to either sweep or take 3 of 4 from the Giants.

Cintron hits 2 home runs and the Diamondbacks take game one. RJ goes for two straight tonight.

Going back to Pedreekay, I seriously doubt that he will manage the dbacks next year. We should put him back as first base coach, and sign a big name just like the Cardinals did with Denny Green, and bring in Mark Grace as the bench coach.

Dont count Pedrique out just yet. He has experience coaching yonger players, which can actually benefit this team. If he can get 100% out of all our players, which i dont think Brenly could do, then he may be able to win himself the job permanantly.

Choate is starting to get a few votes after another stellar outing tonight - - blows two fastballs past Green, then decides to try a curveball....BOOM!! Grand slam for the Dodgers, no win for RJ, and what should have been a great all-around game by the D'Backs turns into a 4-3 deficit in the 8th, with Gagne coming in the game.

C'mon boys, knock Gagne out again!

I am sure that tonight's loss to the Dodgers won't make RJ want to get out of dodge any sooner, do you?
