Would anyone trade Josh for Bulger straight up assuming both had equal contracts?

I wouldn't I thought Bulger looked bad considering what he had to work with.

well thats a good point.

I'll give josh a 6 out of 10.

He did keep us in it, but lets call a spade a spade. He had the ball in the 4th with a couple of chances to get it done, and he did not.

There was one blown pass coverage in the 4th, and it cost us, but, Josh still did not make a lot of plays down the stretch.

Still on the Josh band wagon though.

Good googly moogly. I thought Josh played a very good game.

And wasn't it nice to see a Cards QB audible? Haven't seen that in years.

Josh threw it away when he had to, audibled several times, threw some very nice balls, handled the noise well, and never panicked.
He overthrew a guy on a turn-in, misread the safety on the nullified interception and a couple of his dump passes were too low.

How many times did Leonard Little screw up our plays, only to have Josh avoid the sack, minimize the damage, and still try to make a play? A bunch.

Josh looked like...

a guy making his 4th start in the NFL. He's obviously learning and I thought did OK. The int didn't count but that was a very bad decision and pass, but other than that I thought he handled himself pretty well. A good game for him.

Emmitt had a real good game but he has sure lost a couple of steps hasn't he? I think he makes up for it between the ears more than between the tackles these days! Cudos to him for his leadership and effort today.

My analysis of the game is that the Rams kept the Cards in the game more than the Cards did. They made enough mistakes and turned the ball over enough for it to stay close as long as it did.

BUT, I was very happy to see the effort by the players and the hitting they were layin' on the Lambs! Good to see Starks come up big on a few plays too. Anyone notice Macklin got picked on the second half and they were avoiding Starks' side more?

Thank goodness the season has started! Bring on the Pats!!!

Agree that josh played well. I'm just saying I'm not sure his performance today was good enough, in general, to make us a playoff team.

But I could be wrong.

I was at the game. All I can say is that I have never heard the Rams fans so loud!!! Every play, they where on the Cards. I was very proud of our QB. He stayed composed never got rattled during the game.Josh will have better days in the near future. But today? There are only a COUPLE of QB's in this league today that could of played any better than Josh did today considerind that NOISE.
Oh,by the way compared to last years game in St. Louis.Night and Day,we have a coaching staff.

I was struck by the fact that there were no "boneheaded" plays. Compared to previous years (by a different QB) thats a huge improvement.

Some good thoughts. I think Emmitt was the player of the game for us. He brings alot of intangables to the table, even if he's lost a step. I think seeing Faulk out there motivated him a little (if he needed any).

Starks was great. We'll need him healthy from here on out. Macklin's not as fast so he gets picked on more. But he'll make plays.

We still need to find a pass rush. Berry didn't apply the heat today, that I saw.

Sorry Shane, I would have to say that McCown had a pretty mediocre performance today. He overthrew a few recievers and also threw it short on multiple third downs, without going downfield. Not a terrible game, but certainly not great.

From what I saw I think he had an average game and his future is a long way off from being decided. You do not take a QB who is making his 5th start and proclaim him the QB of the future. We did that with Jake let us not start this with McCown. Let us just hope he improves each week and just maybe he may become a legit starting NFL QB.

True, but I think we're better off now BEHIND Josh than we were with Dave Brown as a backup. King is better than Brown, hell Navarre may be better than Brown already.

If for some reason Denny has to bench Josh, or Josh gets hurt, we're not in nearly as bad a shape now as we were then.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel. I have a feeling next week will be a very tough one on Josh, New England disguises their defense very well.

John are you one of those guys who claim we should have drafted manning and Leftwich etc...... saying they would be the QB of the future prior to zero NFL starts????

John was one of those guys who liked Druckenmiller way back when.

I say give Josh time, let him learn and show what he has. So far I can't say anything bad about the guy. I'd rather have him than alot of the other QBs I saw starting yesterday.

McCown needs to get it together. He hasn't made many crucial mistakes, but he hasn't made many plays either. Time for him to step up.

Russ - I'm not as worried about the offense under Josh as I am about the defense stopping Brady and Dillon. NE gave up a ton of rushing yards in their opener. If we can have a running threat - Josh will get time to pass and put some points up this week.

I expect a high scoring affair maybe 80 points combined.

NE was playing a comparable team in the Colts! If the Card's can only manage 10 points with 3 gimmes against the lambs, how many gimmes will it take to get them up around 40 points?

This has been their problem since preseason game 1. They can't convert opportunities into 7 points. Once they learn how to do that, they will be a much better team because the D is actually showing up for 4 quarters this year.

Yes but they have Edge, and Manning, we don't.

NE led the NFL in picks last year, because of the way they disguise their defensive coverages(they didn't have a great pass rush). Manning is one of those guys who's seen it all, Josh hasn't. It's not a criticism, but if we fall behind and have to open up, I expect to see a couple of picks, that's what Crennel does to young QB's.

So far I'm pretty happy with Josh, I still would have taken Leftwich 2 years ago but that's done, and he didn't play well himself yesterday.

???? What on earth makes you think that the Cards offense, which has found the endzone exactly twice through the entire preseason and 1 regular season game, is suddenly going to break out against Bill Belicheck's defense, which has made a habit of making Peyton Manning look foolish?

Russ is correct, you should expect Josh to struggle vs Belicheck. If he makes it through the game without making a mistake against a disguised coverage, it would be a successful outing.

Good points as usual! How do Carolina's defensive schemes compare to the Pats. Save the first play in his very first start last year, Josh had an excellent game against the Panthers, nearly knocking them out of the playoffs as well. That's when the kid earned my respect and even more importantly Denny Green's.

Only if the Patriots score 60 plus. ;)

No offense, but you've gotta be kidding. If Belichick's defensive schemes can hold Peyton Manning, Edgerrin James and Marvin Harrison to 24 points, there's no way the Cardinals are gonna put up anything close to 40. Especially with the Patriots getting an extra three days to prepare.

And I wouldn't translate the Colts' rushing totals last Thursday to the Cards' chances of running on the Pats. James was 310-1,259 (4.1 ypc) with 11 TDs last year, in what was still considered a subpar year for him. The Cards don't have an RB in his class, nor do they have the Colts' OL.

The Cards have exactly one chance in this game. If the Pats are looking past this one, and they wilt in the heat in the 4th quarter, maybe the Cards will steal a home win.

More likely, Belichick won't make the same mistake that Martz did, and the Pats will run the ball until the Cards stop it. Look for a whole lotta Corey Dillon. And a Patriots win, 24-13.

You may be right! Who knows. We always count on the heat factor and find a lot of clubs come in and whip our collective fannies. Both teams suffer in the heat so I don't think that will make the Patriots wilt; we have to open up our offense and score and score to win. I think we will see a brilliant offensive display but probably fall short to an incredibly gifted and well-coached team 45 to 31. If we get lucky and we get a defensive or ST score to break their momentum, we might win 41-38. I think it will be a wild, exciting game which I'm really looking forward to seeing this weekend in person. I hope that the crowd is pro-Red and loud as hell!

I think he only had two passes in excess of 11 yds. The flea flicker and one other. Granted in the 2nd half he did not have much time but you cannot win games like that. He has got the rest of the year (maybe) to prove himself. Sure hope he works out or here we go again looking for a QB of the future.
