Rose has game, and can win games win it's on the line, but in no way, shape, or form is anything close to the master. Everytime someone throws the team on their shoulder we hear this mumbo jumbo.
IMO it's like this...
Kobe is (or should I say was ;)) the closest thing. I hate agreeing with Skip Bailess (?) about shat but I am with him on this one. Lebron? I'd rather have Wade.
There is only one dude in this league that just might maybe possibly... and that's Durant. JMO

Derrick Rose is 22. I'm not saying he's the next Jordan or anything close, but he's pretty unbelievable. Scary to think both Rose and Durant are only 22.

This reminds me of Jason Segel in the preview for that 'bad teacher' movie that's coming out, it always cracks me up.

Segel: "There is no way that Lebron will ever be Jordan, call me when Lebron has 6 championships."

Little Lebron fan: "Is that your only argument?"

Segel: "IT'S THE ONLY ARGUMENT I NEED SHAWN!!!"

LOL

it really is scary to think of how incredible both Rose and Durant are at such young ages... and really as the unquestioned "head of households" on their respective teams.

Comparing Rose and Jordan at 22, I'd hate to have to live off the difference. Jordan is the greatest player of all time but Rose is already great and he's still improving. I think, in the end, Jordan will retain his crown but it might be solely on the strength of his extra 3 or 4 inches in height. All other things being equal, height and length are difference makers. As for Durant, he's got the edge on MJ in height and length but he'll likely never have anywhere near the physical strength Jordan had and that might ultimately be the only thing that keeps him from that level.

It is not just height, Jordan was much better at basically everything compared to Rose, even passing.

Neither Rose nor Durant are on a level with Lebron either.

NOT at 22, he wasn't. He was always fantastic around the basket but much of his game developed over time. He became a good shooter and an excellent defender but he didn't walk into the league that way.

Better than Rose anyway.

28/6/6/2.3 as a rookie
was injured in the second year and averaged still 23/4/3/2/1.2 in just 25mpg.
37/5/5/3/1.5 in the third year

Jordan always was light years ahead of were Rose is defensively.

it's really not close. there's never been anything like Jordan in the game and i doubt there ever will be.

that being said, those two young guys have outrageous game. The Bulls DESPERATELY need a legit #2 option though. right now, they're like the GREAT version of the Utah Jazz... Rose is the superman version of Deron Williams but they're shooting guard and PF are Korver and Boozer and that just doesn't cut it and won't cut it when they face the Heat. and the Lakers would destroy them.

How much better supporting cast can you get?

Boozer, Noah, Deng is a quality trio.

They have been one of the top 5 rebounding teams every year basically just because of their frontcourt.

no it's not. Boozer is like Cliff freaking Robinson in the playoffs. Testicles shrink back into his stomach and he gets dominated by bigger players. Noah has zero offensive game and Deng can't really create his own shot either.

He's a number one with a great #3 option (Boozer), a great defensive C and a good glue guy with Deng, but there ain't no Gasol, Pippen, young Kobe, Ginobli/Parker, etc. etc.

As great of a rebounding team and as good as they are defensively, they have no legit 2nd option on offense and title teams have all three... they can play D and they have at least two superstars on offense who can create their own shot and for others. They're missing that number 2.

They won't struggle vs. the Heat, and haven't this season.

They will, however, beat the Lakers in a seven game series, especially with HCA.

they will and regular season doesn't mean jack. they're too young/inexperienced to get past the Heat in the playoffs.

you're smoking crack. there's no way the Lakers lose to that team. Gasol/Bynum swallow up Boozer whole and dominate him on offense and as incredible as Rose is, he's not going to beat you guys single-handedly.

Leave it to a Suns fan to overlook the Bulls' defense. And to underestimate Luol Deng.

I almost never bet on sports, but if it comes to a Lakers-Bulls finals and the Lakers are underdogs, that's one bet I'm taking without a second thought.

not overlooking the Bulls defense... i've just seen Boozer get dominated by the Lakers too many times to believe he can ever be that 2nd guy needed to rise above to win a title... and Luol Deng just doesn't have that kind of game, period.

I get what you are saying. Bulls as a team can overcome Boozer. Probably. :) Bulls top 4 of Rose Boozer Noah Deng are better than Wade James Bosh whoever else they have...

That supporting cast does not hold a candle to Harper, Rodman/Grant, Pippen. Ron Harper was a star before he went to Chicago and took on a role player to support Jordan. Pippen might have been the second best player in the league when he played along side Jordan. Then Jordan had either Rodman or Grant (not at the same time of course) and some decent role players.
