I would do this without thinking twice.

It's the future Miami pick that makes me nervous. That could be a good pick especially if the Heat blow it up.

If we are going to have studs all over the place then big paydays are on the horizon. I say heck no to including the future Miami pick. That could be a source of solid cheap talent. Plus there is no protection on that pick I believe.

Yup. Completely unprotected.

You know that expression, "When you have two quarterbacks, you really have zero"?

Knight Payton Ulis Harrison Canaan Shai Brunson

Seven point guards, Not a one I like as the starter! (Of course, I'm lower on Shai than most)
Knight, Payton, ulis, Harrison, Canaan = who cares?

And when the cowboys had two qbs (2 first round qbs) in aikman and Walsh I believe they eventually traded Walsh for value and then won super bowls. Don’t believe every silly saying.

Let's run back the Suns' 3 point guard system with worse guards! :)

I was just trying to spice up my basic message, which was that I want quality not quantity at the position and I don't see Shai or Brunson as the answer.

Get me the point guard versions of Aikman and Walsh and I'm in!

my favorite skill in a player is bb IQ. especially, of course, in a point guard
and that's what we need most to add, after Ayton

Young will probably go #5, 6 or 7.
we'd be lucky to pick that low next year and it's not likely to be as strong a draft
why not trade next year's pick unprotected for him?
i'd also throw in #16 to get it done

i'd gamble that he'd be a core piece in a key role to grow with our other stars

Well... I'd put top 5 protection on it for 2 reasons... one, some injury catastrophe has us as the worst team again and #2, the lotto odds are changed a lot next year. We could finish with the 10th or 11th worst record and have way better odds of jumping up than under the current system.

But yeah, I'd totally be willing to include our pick next year.

If we had a roster of Booker, Ayton, Jackson and Young and ALL of them are talented enough to warrant big contracts... then... GREAT! I'd love to have that "problem".

even if we pick 2, 3, or 4 next year we might consider ourselves lucky to get a talent like Young, in the position we need

This can obviously change, but it looks like a weak class next year, with most of the top players as wings. You could argue that any of the top 7 or 8 players in this year's draft have as much value to the Suns as any player in next year's draft as it currently stands.

I know there should be a lot of hype about Curry but I believe someone on this thread brought up Elie Okobo of France and after watching some footage of him I would take him at #16 (right now NBA Draft Net has him at #30). Guy is around the same size as Young but looks stronger with a 6'8 wingspan, his numbers aren't as impressive as Young but he is a better defender and more explosive. I think his shooting ability is similar to Young. Check out his pass at 3:27, a magician couldn't explain how he made it.

I watched a couple of his games. He's a mess on defense. Tons of bad tendencies. He's also playing against marginal talent. He's one I'd be very careful putting next to Book. He's not a reach at #16, but he has some uncomplimentary flaws to our current roster.

I don’t think that gets sit done due to:

1. Why would a team trade a 5/6/7 for a pick a year later that’s likely not as high?

2. Next year’s draft is projected to be considerably weaker than this year’s, so not only would our trade partner have wait a year, for likely a worse slot, but a shallower talent pool as well?

3. The 16 this year isn’t enough of a sweetener. By all accounts the second tier of talent ends at pick 13 or 14. So why would they trade out of the top tier for third tier talent?

We will have to offer a TON more to get a 5/6/7.

Is it correct that we have six pics slated for this year and next

I don't think so although that's not far off. I believe we have 2 first rounders this season and next year we have 2 first rounders plus a conditional first rounder. Some might call it 6 first round picks in that our own 2nd this season is the 31st pick. We also hold a 2nd from Toronto this season and our own 2nd next year.

He didn’t say six FIRSTS, he said “six pics” so if he didn’t misspeak the yes we have six picks over these two years (maybe more - do we have our 2nd next year?). I think we have at least seven (2 1sts and 2 2nds this year plus 2 1sts (if Milwaukee conveys) and our 2nd).

I know he didn't say firsts but since we had fewer than 6 firsts and more than 6 picks, a simple "yes" didn't seem like the right answer. Regardless, we have 3 seconds and either 4 or 5 firsts over the next two drafts.

Here's a page to bookmark, it lists all of the Suns picks they own over the next few years and how we got them. It has the Miami and Milwaukee picks plus any 2nd rounders that we may own. 2nd round picks get moved a lot in small deals and sometimes a team ends up with them from trades made a decade prior. Like in 2020 we had the Pistons 2nd round pick from the Marcus Morris salary dump but it looks like we traded that away in the deal for Chriss.

We only have 3 or 4 1st's over the next 2 drafts, our own, Miami's, and Milwaukee's. Not sure where you're getting more from. We don't get another Miami 1st until 2021. So the next 2 drafts after this year the only extra pick we'll have in the 1st round is Milwaukee's.

You're right, I messed that up. So we have either 6 or 7 picks over the next two drafts which is what I believe Ouchie was saying.

Agree. The Suns minimally have 6 draft picks over the next two drafts.

You could be right, this clip only shows his strengths but he looks impressive at first glance.

I can see Boban having his uses but I don't want to give up Reed and Williams - they are both valuable for our second unit. With, say, Harrison at point, TJ on the wing, and Alex Peters rounding it out at PF, that could be a high scoring second unit and also pretty strong defensively. Against most teams second unit they'd gain ground.

How did that second unit fare last year again? Not that hot in my memory!

I think only 3 or 4 firsts over next two years.
