I'm not sure about that. The upgrade from Sendlein to Mack would be much greater than from Okafor/Freeney to Vernon, who is about the best pass rusher left.

Veldheer, Iupati, Mack gives 3 pro bowl caliber linemen. Granted, the right side, assuming Humphries and Cooper are the guys, has a lot to prove but they are both talented 1st rounders. However, they yet to show it in the NFL.

Agreed. Mack would make Cooper better on the right side.

Besides, the draft is so talented this year for DE/LB. THere are 3 rounders grading out as first rounders. base salary would be around 650k....

Would fit perfectly with Arians' strategy with Cooper - use a first round pick on a guy, refuse to play him, sit him on the bench behind some mediocre veteran, and then complain that the guy was a bust even though he rarely saw the field.

we are ~48 hours into free agency, and the board has kept its collective mind

thats about 45 hours longer than usual

i do sense some panic creeping in though..........

Agree. Let Jacksonville, Miami, Oakland, and other bottom feeders win the offseason Lombardi award and get caught in crap deals for average players.

Thats great but none of them are close to a SB caliber team whose only needs one or two pieces to complete the puzzle.

Meh...I have no problem with the direction the Cards are taking free agency. They put out competitive offers to JPP and Hali, and both guys decided to stay put. Oh well. Don't make a knee-jerk reaction by throwing money at the next guy on the list. Plenty of options available who are lower risk with similar upside. Alan Branch is worth a lower contract. Hayes from St Louis can rush. Ayers is a situational rusher, but that can work. The secondary will need work, but Jenkins is too risky for that money.

Graves would have probably bagged a guy like Mario Williams or Malik Johnson, only to discover in two years that restructuring/cutting the guy would create dead money on the cap.
