I am trying to decide if I should go for 4 days on Labor Day weekend or 3 days the weekend before. I am trying to avoid the crowds and I am wondering if the heat and possible rain will keep people home.
weekend before all day long. I never go out holiday weekends anymore, too many people out there

Well, I went over Labor day weekend. Took Friday off from work but ended up going in. I didn't actually leave until after noon on Friday. There were a lot of people out there but not as many as I feared. I spent a couple hours finding a spot but that was more about me being insanely picky than over crowding. Truth be told I had a spot in mind that has AMAZING views but absolutely no tree cover and I was worried about being too hot but there was nobody there. Then I took a crappy road and right off the "main" road I found a great spot but passed on it because I didn't want to hear the cars driving by. Mind you they wouldn't have been able to see me nor I them. Just the sound.

In the end I found a great spot near the end of a forest road. Great views too.

it sucks that if you camp by water, there is always trash everywhere. I always fill a trash bag and take it out with me but even this campsite that was empty, was trashed.

you can see crap on the ground just past the hammocks and etc and this was the cleanest section of the specific beach I Was at.

My wife and I went out there for a hike on, I think Memorial Day, and there was so much trash we almost left. Really dissapointing.

Growing up, the last thing we did before leaving was "police our area", and make sure that a) no trash of ours was left behind, and b) we left the area cleaner than we found it. I have done the same with my kids...makes me sad that people just suck.

We do the same. I heard the other day denim and diamonds (the bar) had a party at cove one, drugs, beer pong and debauchery all over the beach. Apparently the next day they all left and it is totally riddled with all of their trash, tables and more.

You would think it is only teenagers that have no regard for things like this but nope, even adults go out there, completely trash it and then just leave like someone is going to come clean up after them.

That is one of the nice things about camping the way I camp is I usually go further out than everyone else and dont have to deal with it but you shouldnt have to go 5 miles deeper than anyone else just to avoid trash.

Looking but cannot find it on google maps.
El Oso road apparently:

https://goo.gl/maps/6wSiaT8WHJp

That trail goes a ways and I found some cool spots while I was on it. I only drove it a mile or two as it was sleeting on us and we were driving proper rigs for that kind of weather. The snow photo I posted is a cool campsite I found up there that likely has amazing views, I couldn't tell because of the dense fog.

Noted. Thanks. I might go check it out in a couple weeks. I am getting to the point where if I don't get out of town I am going to lose it.

I always carry out my trash and a bag of trash left by others. Sadly this does not make a dent.

Makes a difference to the ones that come behind you.

It does help but I would like to see come concerted effort for Arizonans to carry out extra trash from recreational areas. Maybe it could be promoted as a pride thing with park rangers providing bags.

I thought about starting some sort of non profit off road clean up company to write off all of the work I do to my 4x4 and use donations and etc to organize huge cleanups around the state.

But then I realized I barely had time to make my lunch this morning.

I definitely understand that.

Perhaps recreation users could be provided a discount or a free night to clean up a particular camp site they use.

I'm just throwing mud off the wall but some time of incentive might help.
