Figured it would be easiest to just have one thread for this with the cut to 53 looming, since anytime an even half-noteworthy player is cut a thread is sure to pop up.

1) Every punter who got cut, because I feel fairly confident that they are all better than Butler.

2) Your post inspired me to research all the Tackles who have been cut. Man, it is desperately slim pickings. There isn't even really anyone I would kick the tires on.

The only one I see with any upside is Tony Hills who has been an effective player when healthy, but he is ALWAYS injured.

Just goes to show how difficult it is to be a GM :(

Agree about the punter situation but BA seems happy with Buthead.

No pass rushers worth a lick will be cut so forget that need.

Same thing on the OT front except that I'm of the opinion that it can't be hard to upgrade Sowell.

CB is more then good with P2, Powers, Bethel, HB & most likely Brooks making the roster.

TE is set for this year, doesn't mean it can't be upgraded next year but at this point let's see our current TE's perform before bringing in other teams castoffs.

Obviously we are set at WR and RB and I will add QB and OG to that list.

So what I'm hoping for is an ILBer (thanks for nuthin Dwashout) and that SK talks some sense into BA about our punter situation.

I think we will look at ILB and CB, likely only vets with a few years experience though, and *maybe* a punter, but I doubt it. Nobody worth a lick is cut yet that isn't less of a risk than what he have so far.

1) Dan Dierdorf-better than Sowell even at his age & 2 replaced knees

2) Reggy Robbie-I know damn well he's better than Butler even if he's 60 yrs old

3) LT-he would be this teams 2nd best edge rusher at his age, though it might take a few white lines to get him going :D

4) Brian Urlacher-this team needs an impact ILB that can tackle, cover & stay out of the tub & this guy was one of the best in the last decade.

5) Brett Favre-who knows how long CP will last behind a suspect OL, so let's sign a guy who's better than Stanton & we all know wants to play again :p

6) Dermontti Dawson-our Oline has been getting no push in the middle at center of its running game since the days of Stl, so sign a former Stealer like we always do

:lol::p:lol:

Beanie Wells. :D

I'd rather have Anthony Thompson or Lectric Leland ;)

Isn't it just sad that we basically haven't had a quality RB for any period of time since the days of Juice back in Stl? Wow just amazing

We really need an ILB Whom can cover and have enough Speedy to chase qb's scrambilng
In these 3 Preseason game was dramatic the slowness in the Middle of our defense

In my memory, and I have NO evidence to back up this claim, but it seems that Dallas always manages to find a kicker, whether he is a punter or place kicker. Do they have mass tryouts?

I know this thread is for players that were cut, but i didn't want to start another thread. Sio Moore has fallen out of favor with the Oakland Raiders and has been demoted to special teams.

I have never watched him very closely but he has 8 sacks in his first two years and his scouting reports out of college say he is good in coverage. Does anyone with more knowledge than myself on this player have any idea if he would be a fit in our D? If so, maybe we could swing a trade with the raiders for one of our backup DL, WR or Safeties. Or maybe I'm completely off?

Giants cut punter Steve Weatherford

Weatherford was the Giants' punter for the past four years, including Super Bowl XLVI, but they released him today (via ESPN and multiple reports).

Averaged 45.5 yards per punt last year despite the swirling winds in Giants stadium. He was cut for financial reasons & the Giants traded a late round draft pick for Steelers punter Brad Wing.

Would love to see this. They should have traded Alexander for Moore as it seems Alexander is going to take his spot on the roster.

I doubt BA brings any punters in. For some strange reason, he thinks Butler great last year besides the playoff game. I don't get it.

I'm going to be disappointed if we don't show interest. Not sure what his asking price will be though.
