Good to see you know nothing about football history.

Umm...did Frings handle the ball on the goal line in '02? yes

Did a valid goal just get disallowed less than an hour ago? yes

I'll venture to guess that you weren't even close to being alive in the history you mention.

Game should be 2-2 at the half.

Englands getting hosed out of a goal that was clearly in. I remember reading that (either last wc or korea-japan,) they were going to put a chip in the ball so know whether the ball entered the goal or not. Sure would've come in handy for that play.

As pleased as I am that a ton of new fans have tuned in for the cup, it really sucks that they'll remember it for the bad officiating rather than the great upsets that have happened thus far.

The FIFA egghead department has done some World Cup number crunching, and released its group stage stats. Good news is that all empirical evidence points to Sunday's Mexico vs Argentina Round of 16 game being awesome - numbers wise - as it features two of World Cup 2010's statistical leaders.
Argentina's Leo Messi had the most shots on target in the group stage with 11, and also shares the lead for most solo runs, as both he and Brazil's Maicon got dribbly with it 18 times. Argentina striker Gonzalo Higuain is also joint top top scorer with three goals, a record he shares with Spain's David Villa, Slovakia's Robert Vittek, and now Ghana's Asamoah Gyan.
The numbers don't all favor Argentina though. Mexico's Javier Hernandez has been clocked as the fastest player in the World Cup so far, with FIFA's speed guns (I'm assuming they use speed guns) catching the man they call Chicharito (The Little Pea) doing a top speed of 32.15 kph. That's close to 20 mph, for those of who don't speak metric. Not too fast for a car. But far too fast for most defenders.

We can still root for the fastest player in the WC today :-D

Slin is an elitest German football douchebag. He is allowed his opinion even if it is the most egotistical on the board. I just wish he could understand the the amount of venom he spews and the perception it helps reinforce about the German people.

Oh, and Landon & Howard would absolutely start on some of the teams in Germany. Clint would probably as well.

Yes they would but we are talking about the national team and they clearly wouldn't make it.

I'd say you have 5 players who can play for abover average teams in the top leagues but that is it. In my opinion they are Donovan, Oneywu, Dempsey, Howard beyond that there is nothing really on your roster Altidore, Bradley and Cherundulo are only good enough for bottom dwellers.

I won't know who I am rooting for until the game starts probably..... Mexico and Argentina both have positives & negatives.

I don't hate Mexico like some others do, and Argentina just looks like they are having so much fun.

Hopefully it is a good game and not a card-fest.

That third goal should do it..... Too bad the Brits had to push so hard forward after the horrible no-goal call.

The Germans are capitalizing on every opportunity.

Diversity, my man. Get used to this, my man. As a US fan, with the hispanic population multiplying itself more than any other ethnicity, you are gonna be seeing a lot more Gomez, Torres, Hernandez, Lopez on the USMNT in the near future.

Just surprised me.... That's all. Germany never came across to me as the melting pot for the hispanic culture.

With as much Germans as there are in Mexico (certain parts, of course,) it was surprising to me that it had taken this long for a hispanic last name to surface on their NT.

I don't think there has been a more INVISIBLE superstar than Wayne Rooney.

Englands midfield has been garbage, but it doesn't seem like Rooney wants to be there at all.
