The offense doesn't run through him, its through Dos Santos. Blanco had some nice touches as well. If Mexico wants to win the group, they're going to need far better play from Franco, or start Hernandez.

Don't talk to your daddy like that, chris. Giovani Dos Santos is the truth

We're not happy. We came here for the victory," Dos Santos said in a broadcasted interview after the match. "It was a match with a lot of turning points, a lot of hastiness. In the end, the team fought and got the draw. There are still two games left so we have to keep working."

He'll keep working and we'll get the win vs France

I though Blanco was pretty crap actually. Gave the ball away 2 or 3 times in the short period he was on. Once he had an easy bal to control, in his own half, and knocked it straight to an attacking SA player.

Gio is awesome, and he was the best player on the pitch in this game, but don't fool yourself, he's a finisher, not a playmaker. He's Mexico's version of Lionel Messi (with much less talent of course).

Ha, he looks more like a mommy. Can't wait for Mehico to fail to make it out of the group.

You miss the goal he set up for Vela vs Italy? Gios an awesome distributor, better than he is a finisher.

Puhlease. You are trying to defend your position by only pointing out one thing--Rafa's goal, Gio's pass in a previous game. Every player has made great passes at some point in their career, but to say that Gio is a better distributor than a finisher reeks of limited credibility. If he was such a good passer, how come he didn't control the game today? He was easily the Mexican team's best finisher out there.

I have to agree. His career will be known more for his assists than his goals scored.

What do you guys think of his younger brother, Jonathan being cut? He's the starlet from the Barcelona youth system, only a year younger than Giovani.

I have seen very little of him but he looks like he has the skill/athletic ability its just from what I have seen he kind of wanders in and out of the action.

Ive read some barca supporters compare him to Xavi, which would be amazing. Wish his dad weren't such a crazy bastard and hed never play for Mexico again for cutting him. Being the last man cut for a top 15 team at 20yrs old isnt a terrible thing.

Oh what may be my favorite thing about the world cup this year. Since Univision got the spanish broadcast rights for the world cup ESPN is using Portuguese on ESPN Deportes. Gotta love finding stupid ways to get stuff on the air.

I like him, but he rarely gets any time with the Barca first team. I did see him live when Barca was here playing the Galaxy last summer and he looked pretty good. I think he has the chance to be better than his brother, but he has a little ways to go. Not upset he wasn't on the 23-man roster.

I would have been upset if, say, Dani Alves, wasn't on the 23-man roster for Brazil. That said, I have a feeling they might go with Maicon instead of Dani, and that would suck (I think both players are about equal in skill).

France is such a mess right now I have to imagine Uruguay will win, but who knows. Thats what makes sports so great.

This is definitely a "pick 'em" game. I like France to advance, but Uruguay is a tough opponent in a first game of the tournament.

France is playing a hell of a lot better than I expected them to.

Uruguay's midfielder is preventing their great pair of strikers from doing anything
