I now I may sound like I jumping the fence here, but Kurt has been pretty good up until this week.
Not really... he hasn't had a terrible game like today's but he has been pretty off. I'm still waiting for an explosive offensive game. Some of it the chicken **** play calling of Whiz, some players just not executing.

That is not the coaches, that is Kurt. Kurt is the one who keeps checking it down, not the coaches. All plays should have a check down, especially with a QB of Kurt's mobility. Kurt is the individual who was unwilling to push the ball down the field. The Panthers got a lead, kept their safeties back, and Kurt failed to use his short to intermediate routes to burn them for doing so.

I didn't believe this at first, but I do now.

We NEED an OC. Whiz cannot call plays and handle the team.

The fact Warner was allowed to play in the second half is just ridiculous. Seriously, what in the hell was Whiz thinking.

Warner has been this way his entire career, he is Jekyll and Hyde when it comes to his play. When Warner is off, he is off, and he just gets worse and worse. SIX turnovers and at least 6 mis-reads for big plays. AND WHY CAN'T HE THROW THE &^#$%$^$%%^%@ BALL AWAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Damn, that pisses me off. He was out of the pocket, just throw the ball away........ instead we get a fumble. DAMN IT!

What in the world would make you think he would all of a sudden not continue to do what he has his entire career.

I am not saying to bench Warner the whole year, I am just saying that Leinart should have started the second half. The fact Leinart was not put in tells me that we have no QOF. And if that is the case we are screwed, not only this year but for our future.

I think Whis keeps going back to the Jets game from last year. Warner lit it up in the second half after an awful first half. I had no problem with Warner coming back out to start the half but Leinart should have been playing to start the 4th Quarter.

I don't know about pulling Warner after the first half, he is streaky and we were only down 3 scores with the ball to start. Where I think we should have pulled him was after the fumble. That was the spot where he showed that he was done. Put in Leinart and see what happens.

I honestly think Kurt looks very average this season, aside from the J-ville game. Of all things, I really dislike the fact that he is scared to throw the deep ball to the best deep ball receiver in the NFL.

If anyone else notices, his body language is horrible. He doesnt show any emotion, hangs his head way too often and is just slow overall.

We have 3 terrific receivers that are being underutilized. I look at teams like New Orleans and wonder why with this level of talent we have on the offensive side of the ball can't put up 30 ppg. Kurt needs to take his Huggies off and be more aggressive.

I think Warner switched bodies with Delhomme today. Maybe it happened during the "pep talk" phone call he placed? He must have been eating a Fortune Cookie ala Freaky Friday...

I agree. There is too much on Whiz's plate. Haley last year was sketching plays on the plane, at his home texting with Warner, etc. etc. Whiz cannot do that with all the other responsibilities and it is obvious.

Look in his eyes. He has no fire. He is physically and mentally overmatched.

No that was a bad play call. Down at home big and you are dinking and dunking rather than trying to get a score downfield before the half. This is a poorly coached group at key times.

You mean like the next time when we threw downfield and that got picked too?

Carolina was getting heat on Kurt, the right playcall there is a screen, especially with Beanie in since they don't expect us to throw to him. He was wide open, would have been a nice gain there to get us into nice field position. Kurt made a bad throw, the call was fine just not executed.

If we watched the same game we weren't able to get the ball downfield at all, Fitz was doubled, Anquan was hurt and Breaston is still not 100%. We had maybe 3 plays downfield, one was called back on a hold(pass to Morey) the one to Breaston that he caught just short of the goalline, and the one to Fitz that kurt overthrew for a pick.

We haven't been hitting big plays downfield all year and the reason is a combination of defenses taking it away, WR's playing hurt, and Kurt not converting the chances he has downfield.

People always blame the playcalling, it's a default whenever the team loses.

Again couldn't disagree more. We knew we were goign to have to throw down 21 at the half, the obvious guy in that situation is Kurt. Last year against the Jets Kurt just ripped it up in the 2nd half and got us close but didn't get us over the hump.

Kurt didn't play well but he was the obvious choice to start the 2nd half knowing we were going to have to throw this much.

Kurt hasn't been the same guy this season, don't know if it's the arm or it's the WR's being hurt or a combination of that and the horrible OT's, but he's not the same guy as last year. That said we're still in a good situation if we play well the next 4 games.

Kurt's going to play unless Whiz thinks he's hurt, or he has another turnover fest like today.

The playcalling and recongnition of the clock in this game was actually quite good IMO. We couldn't run the ball the second half and I counted 3 or 4 differen times we got the ball back with plenty of time to make things happen.

I don't get the play calling hand wringing. You think Wiz called plays that he predetermined were turnovers? This game was ALL Kurts fault and anyone saying otherwise just isnt being truthful. This was his implosion game.

Saying that unlike others, I am not treating him like he is done. In fact he usually responds quite well to games like this.

Lets just end the convo about where the blame of the loss lies. Its at Warners feet simple. Sure a couple INT's could have been bad bounces of non catchs but the that still accounts for 4 horrendous TO's. Pitiful.

How about every game we lose everyone quits jumping to the playcalling card and how Wiz can't handle it. It's so tired.

Coachs call plays. Players execute. This was obviously an execution problem today.

Wouldn't be a "Warner" day without a ridiculous fumble. God, that was sad. Way to kill the momentum Kurt.

I called it two plays prior. I have dubbed it, Kurt Warner Especial Number Two. The sack-strip-fumble. You knew it was coming.

We said that it was like Face/Off. Arm/Off. It was wild. Kurt had the game that Delhomme had in the playoffs. Major mojo transfer there.

As bad as our defense looked in the first half...this loss goes on the offense. The defense gave up only 2 field goals in the second half, and the offense could not come up with anything.

C+ to the D

F to the O

That's a little misleading. Carolina had the most conservative playcalling I think I've ever seen in the 2nd half to protect their lead. Had they called ONE play action pass I promise you the WR would've been open by ten yards.

I agree Carolina went very conservative in the 2nd half especially the 4th quarter. They were running the clock and playing for field goals to clinch the game.

Which was a smart move by Fox. It kept the pressure off of Delhomme and then his backup. It's too bad we couldn't have gotten within a score and forced them to air it out at least a little.

Yep. I've seen guys open deep & Kurt throws to someone else. I dont think he's seeing the field like last year. I'm sure the pass blocking has some effect on his decisions but I also think he's pre-determining where he's going with his throws instead of reading the coverage as the play happens.

Warner has 11 TDs and 11 Interceptions with a qb rating of 81.5 YTD. Only Jake Delhomme has more interceptions with 13 but Cutler also has 11.

Jeezus, people! I was yelling as loud as anyone at the television that Warner needed to be sat down today, but that doesn't mean he's "done" or has a "dead arm," it means he was having a crappy day.

Leinart should have come in for the second half. Warner should have taken all the reps he usually does with the first team this coming week and he should start next week.

This board is such a rollercoaster. "He's done!" "He's a football god!" He's done!" The good news is that if we're following a pattern, he'll be a god again next week.

Kurt Warner has been done since his hip surgery. Even when he was statistically good, he still looked like a zombie. Even in the Jacksonville game he looked exhausted and never tried to do anything extraordinary. This whole season he hasn't opened up the big plays, and on the off-chance he tries to go deep, he can't hit the receiver. I know I'm not the only one that thinks he's been nothing but a shell of his former self this whole season.

As much as I love what he did last year I tend to agree. I don't think he should be benched yet but he does not look the same at all. What sucks for Kurt is he doesn't get the luxury of playing like a 38 year old QB. The only thing that's exceptable is a QB worth $13 mill. Thats what he promised the last offseason he was worth when he signed his contract and now he has to live up to it. Sucks but its the truth.

Kurt didn't play well but he was the obvious choice to start the 2nd half knowing we were going to have to throw this much.

If that is the case, then we sould have traded Leinart for a pass rusher in the offseason.

Paying a guy 2.6 mil, and calling him the Quarterback of the future and then when Warner, who is WELL known for having these type of games, starts showing it is not his day and we do not put Leinart in ?

Sorry. Not buying it. That is a bad call, and a bad showing of trust in Matt Leinart. Leinart has shown the ability to throw for a lot of yards, to run the 2 minute offense, and I have seen him throw a ball away when nothing is there. Leinart was our best chance to win yesterday and he sat on the bench.

Once again, could have traded Leinart for a pass rusher, and maybe then traded the 5.4 million dollar Chike Okeafor for a pair of cleats with no laces and a deflated football. Just to bring up another player who played HORRIBLY, and has done nothing for 3 years.

Now, to repeat what I said before. Warner should start next week, and even if Leinart went in yesterday, Warner should still be the starter. It was just not Warner's day.

You hit the nail on the head. That is what aging vets do. They can still have great games and they can have real stinkers. KW is an aging vet and will be inconsistant as the season rolls on. That is where the Jeckle and Hyde threads comes from. Or the good KW and the bad KW.
