We need to spend big on at least one key position because there are too many needs to fill late in the draft and some of those positions take too long to develop.

Iupati and Veldheer were our splash the last two years. Need to spend big in FA to fill at least one of the following; ILB, Center, Pass Rusher. There arn't a bunch of centers and as always, most of these guys will get resigned by their own teams but here are a few and dreaming is free.

ILB
Brandon Marshall, ILB, Broncos. Age: 26 $$$$

Center
Stefen Wisniewski, C, Jaguars. Age: 27 ? $$

Pass Rush
Von Miller, DE/OLB, Broncos. Age: 27 $$$$

Tahir Whitehead, OLB, Lions. Age: 26 $$

Bruce Irvin, DE/OLB, Seahawks. Age: 28 $$$

Robert Ayers, DE, Giants. Age: 30 $$$

Tamba Hali, DE/OLB, Chiefs. Age: 32 $$$$

Jason Pierre-Paul, DE, Giants. Age: 27 $$$

One of Irvin, Miller, or JPP would be a good start. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't we have an opportunity to go after Wisniewski a few years ago and passed?

As for a QBOF, what about Osweiler? It looks like Denver has a ton of free agents and there may be some talent that slips through the cracks.

Muhammad Wilkerson.

Miller gets franchised so fast his head will spin. Get real.

you don't think Wilkerson gets franchised? If not, we should be on his doorstep at 12:01 the day FA starts.

The Jets have Leonard Williams and Sheldon Richardson making big money on the DL already. It's at least *possible* that Wilkerson gets to free agency. Miller, there's literally zero chance.

I could see them going after Hali on a short-term contract. Similar place in his career to John Abraham and Dwight Freeney.

The front office doesn't think Minter is anywhere near as bad as the GMs on this board do. Highly doubt we are going to spend money on an ILB when we already have two competent ones. Minter's lack of coverage skills is another thing that will improve if we have an actual pass rush.

I actually thought Minter played pretty good last night. Had a few good stops and was around the ball all night. I don't think he's as bad as what you called the Board's GMs believe he is either. what the defense needs is someone to compliment him.

Alex Mack would be a nice addition to the OL.

I say JPP only because of age and the money could be right. His market value has to be down right now.

you get what you pay for. At some point, this team will have to try and make a big splash to get a stud at a premium position who can rush the passer. otherwise, we're just jerking off.

wow...some of you guys toss around "he will be franchised" like its a deal killer...... we draft in the last five picks,...and our GM has yet to hit on a starting quality first round pick.

make a deal with Miller,...let Denver tag his ass,.. then give them the picks....we aint getting nothing out of them anyway and guys like Miller do not drop to pick 29

Miller will likely get tagged but we might need to give up the picks and snag him.

:D

Hey you never know.

We don't need to spend that much in our backfield if we can get some legit pressure on the QB and not give him 5 minutes to find a receiver. Would definitely overspend for the pass rush and even an ILB. An ILB solves two problems. It gives us the backer and a safety because Buc can move back to SS.

Yep. It would be nice to find a young stud (insert comments here) and stop hoping that an older super star can make the difference in our pass rush. Nothing against those guys but they should be a condiment and not the main course.

This. My thoughts exactly. Get the best pass rushing OLB in the NFL. Pay the man and give up the picks. Then sign a guy like Janoris Jenkins to play across from PP21. Then draft on needs like more pass rushers, ILB and defensive linemen. We can sign a center like Steve Wisnewski for cheap.

If the Jets let Wilkerson hit FA, he would be a great target. I think he would be worth big money. Olivier Vernon would be a great fit also if the price was right.

Wilkerson would be a phenomenal pickup. He would be my top choice.

Agreed.

But, Peterson, Jenkins, and Mathieu lining up against the opposition would be sick. It will NEVER EVER happen, but still, fun to think about.

If Wilkerson isn't franchised one of those teams with 40+ mil in cap space will give him a massive deal. There is no way he'll be a Cardinal. Fun thought though.
