I'm not done with Kevin Kolb. I think the guy has some talent, especially when compared to what our other QB options currently are. The guy simply has to remain upright period.

Levi will be back, and we may have found a right tackle in Massie - not to mention the strides Potter made this season. Maybe if we beef up on the interior, we can actually give the guy a shot - without him having to constantly resort to Jake the Snake type passing while running for his life.

I don't think he's worth his contract price this year, but that can be redone. We should go all in with Kolb, right now. It's the best shot we have.

Had lots of convos w/ people at the games about Kolb - it was a common topic obviously.

My thing is that I don't want anything to do with him after that injury. Detached ribs, torn cartilage, etc all in a very flexible part of the body. I'm no Dr, but that just seams like one of the worst types of injuries for a QB position based on how much they get hit. Could be a career ending injury?

What happens when he takes another hit like that, will it happen again?

If I were the Cards, I'd cut the loses w/ Kolb now. It's just such a freak injury that I wouldn't want to take that kind of future risk.

I have one rib in the back that will pop out every so often and it's a pain. Can't imagine something like that in the front and worse.

I think Kolb will be the starting qb this year. I hope they go and get OG Warmack with their first round pick and draft a qb on round two that BA will develop.

If anyone has optimism that Kolb can stay healthy past week 8, that's a pipedream! :koolaid::koolaid::koolaid::koolaid::koolaid:

I suppose you guys are right - detaching your ribs is one heckuva injury. The guy has to be hungry to show he is good though. Lord knows he's tough.

That does it, I'm wearing my Kolb jersey to work today. Anybody want a big discount today just come in and mention "Number 4 knows how to score." :)

Please no Kolb, no Skelton, I've seen enough. I wont even mention the other disaster. Clean slate is needed here!

Kevin Kolb is about as far from a Bruce Arians QB as you can get.

What does Ariens background suggest is his type QB? I have no idea as I haven't seen anything related to that subject.

I'm at work and so will provide the link when I get home but I had read yesterday that he utilizes the same passing route tree that Whis did. The only difference is he simplified the verbiage. In the same article it said his QBs take a lot of hits.

what are you smoking?

Is the O line going to suddenly eat tony the tiger and become great?

Cards have the weakest line in the division and they are going against 2 of the best D lines in the country. How is that gonna work out for him?

He can't stay healthy, he's not motivated (shown by his lack of rehab)....this is a disaster story.

Kolb is what did in Whis, you think Bruce is gonna try to pick up that ball and run with it. Heck no! He'll bring in a guy he likes and the guy will beat out Kolb in OTA's. Kolb will be traded to KC for a 3rd.

Bruce will want nothing to do with Kolb. there's enough tape on Kolb to know that

When it comes to Kolb my optimism is that he may make it 8 games before getting injured giving us time to groom a rookie.

I think he could make it 8 weeks if we can keep his sacks to under 5 per game between the blocking, play-calling and his ability to avoid defenders. Now a whole season? I'm not gonna get too overly optimistic :bang:

they did improve by the end of the season. I think the 2 rookie tackles actually looked pretty damn good at the end there

Plummer had a similar injury and even played with it. Dude wore a jacket and admitted he had to pop a rib back in some during a game when it seemed to flip out on him LOL. I'm just stating what was said at the time, do not know if it was true or if the injury Kolb sustained was the same. I do know Plummer never seemed to have been bothered by that again and it never effected him once he played in Denver. I'm still wary of Kolb due to his history of injuries in general. Be it if he is NFL fragile or just hard luck. Kolb is a tough son of gun, but injuries make him useless no matter how well he sucks it up.

Peyton Manning, Ben Roethlisberger & Andrew Luck all big, tall, good movement in the pocket. All QBs had strong arms to drive the ball down the field on deep comebacks, outs and ins. Believes in pushing the ball down the field, creating underneath space for TEs and crossing wide receivers. QBs have to be durable because they have to hold onto the ball. In Cardinals terms, think of a QB who has to be able to consistently hit those deep seem routes to Fitz and Housler.

Ideal rookie QB is Mike Glennon with better feet. Might be able to save Skelton is Skelton wants it enough.

We need to get rid of him. He is a huge waste of cap space for a player that CANNOT stay healthy, and even when he is healthy is a backup quality QB, not anyone who can carry a team. Even during our 4-0 start our offense sucked, we didnt get more than 300 yards in ANY of those games.

The sooner we get rid of him the sooner we free up cap space for the long term, reworking him only delays the inevitable and potentially could make it more painful, especially if we just move his salary into future bonuses to save cap space. If we'd axed him before last year we would be entirely free of his contract hit right now.

There were posts with the exact same sentiments as the OP during last offseason. 3 years in a row Kolb has began the year as a starter and 3 years in a row he suffered significant injuries. "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."
