Today the entire sports world lost legendary baseball catcher and award winning broadcaster, Joe Garagiola. He passed away at the age of 90. He will be missed by many, but especially those of us who regularly got to see him with appearances in the broadcast booth of the Arizona Diamondbacks. May he rest in peace.

Used to love listening to him and Scully call baseball games on NBC in the 80's. Good man, RIP!

As many times as I listened to his broadcasts, I don't recall him ever repeating a story about his days as a ball player. I will always consider him the greatest announcer ever and that includes announcers like Harry Caray and Vince Scully.

Those stories were wonderful links back to the golden era of baseball. He will certainly be missed.

I think he was the one, more than anyone else, that turned Yogi Berra into a national icon. He must've told enough stories about him to fill a 1,000 page biography. And, they were all really great stories too.
