I was pretty sure Disney was getting Fox's cable channels like FX and FXX. I knew the broadcast network wasn't included in the deal either. I'm surprised about the sports channels though, especially since they're keeping FS1 and F2. I read about Fox planning on focusing on sports after the sale went through. Surprised the regional channels were included though. I guess they could be the ones who purchase those from Disney but then why even include them at all?

That deal isn't supposed to be finalized until sometime within the first two quarters of 2019, last I read. So there's a chance that nothing changes for the Suns this season but the 2019-2020 season could be somewhere else. Those channels air a number of different sports leagues so a change will happen during midseason to at least one sports league, who knows which ones will be effected though. I would think the best time to do that is during the summer when only baseball is happening. That would allow the NBA and NHL to go uninterrupted.

It could be something as simple as one game is on Fox Sports Arizona and the next game is on NBC Sports Arizona on exactly the same channel with the same announcers, pre-game, post-game etc. The existing contracts with the professional sports teams are what gives the RSN's any value, so those will no doubt be honored.

Here is my situation...I've had DirecTV for years and had "Ultimate" package where I get everything almost ...all movie channels and was paying $190 a month . Recently I didnt want all the movie channels (just wanted HBO) so I'm saving $70 a month now . But get this...The only I can watch Suns (and ESPN) is to have the Ultimate package with all the movie channels . They dont offer just a sports package !! So when the season starts I'm going to sign up for Sling tv for $25 a month and watch Suns and espn.

Directv is such a ripoff...

I used to have Directv and cancelled. I have Sling TV and won't go back.

Does Sling give you ALL the Suns games? Which Sling package?

Sling Blue is their Fox based multi-stream package. Split the subscription cost with a buddy. You both can stream the same channel at the same time from different locations. 12.50 for all Suns, D-backs, and Coyotes games.

I got in during beta testing so I'm locked in to $20/m ($10 split) my buddy sends me a payment every month electronically.

Additionally I invested in the Air TV box that integrates your OTA channels into the Sling app interface. So I can watch all of the Cards games as well w/o changing inputs. What's even better is that you can watch your OTA channels from your home antenna on your mobile device away from the house. Some sort of black magic, but it works. My buddy can watch my OTA channels within the Sling app from his house.

So with Sling, can you get local channels? I'm too far away to use an antenna.

Also, is there a minimum download speed. My high speed internet is anything but that.

At least one season all the Dbacks games were over the air on channel 3 and the Suns used to be on channel 45. I wouldn't need to pay for any service if the Suns and Dbacks were over the air again.

Just wishful thinking.
I haven't seen a suns game since they left upn

The Suns have released their 5 game preseason schedule.

First-year coach Igor Kokoskov, first overall pick Deandre Ayton and star guard Devin Booker will begin preparations for the 2018-19 season at home against the Sacramento Kings (Oct. 1) before playing the New Zealand Breakers (Oct. 3) and then the Portland Trail Blazers (Oct. 5).

Phoenix will hit the road for the final two preseason games against the Golden State Warriors (Oct. 8) and Trail Blazers (Oct. 10).

signed up (month to month) for the new EOS gym opening in Chandler.
the full membership will cost less per month than SlingTV
and i can watch the Suns games while cycling
-- but don't know how long i can last.
so maybe i'll head down at half or 4th quarter

in any case, better for me than sitting on the couch for 2.5 hours

machines will be busy at that time
so maybe catching the midnight reruns would be better

they've got a bball court too that i'll make use of

Am I the only one who remembers Dimension cable? lol Gotta be a real long time Arizonan to remember those days.

I remember when the Suns games were hardly ever on TV, then they were almost always on TV. Then there was the pay per view fiasco...

Anyways, there's a TON of money in this TV market, not to worry my friends, someone will find a way to show us all our local sports and all the commercials that go with it. :)

I remember that intro! So weird to see that now. I want to say Whataburger was a big sponsor back then also and they donated $50 to Suns charities for every 3 like Fulton Homes does now, but the amount has been increased. Didn't the Suns have Al McCoy and Cotton calling most of those games on channel 45? I remember them being broadcast partners for a stretch but can't remember when that was.

Yeah, pretty much the entire Westpaul era had Cotton and Al together.

"What-a-shot! What-a-burger donates 50 dollars to Suns charities!"

I am not worried about FSAZ for Suns, because I have NBA League Pass due to living in the Utah Jazz market. But I would miss out on DBacks and Coyotes which I can watch for "free" on FSAZ, despite being in the Colorado market area (I guess? I get them too) for MLB and NHL.
At any rate, I hope that it gets solved in a way that I can still watch these sports. I won't pay for those respective league passes like I will for the Suns/NBA.

I was going to correct your obvious error and then I realized you were talking about the Westphal coaching era, not Paul's years with us a player. Back then, Cotton was coaching the Kansas City Kings (and others).

I did that as a workout schedule one year. I limited all my Suns watching to the gym (on the elliptical). I almost killed myself one night in a double overtime game.

I tried that EOS (Ocotillo and Gilbert) - couldn't handle the crowds at 5:00 AM. Went back to LA Fitness.

I remember Dimension Cable. I started with AOL in the '80s and immediately discovered that dial-up was a royal pain. I've been with Dimension (then purchased by Cox) ever since.

Other than sports, and concerts on PBS, I don't watch a lot of TV, but I actually find many of the commercials during the game to be entertaining. I don't like a buttered burger, but Jack in the Box commercials are funny. Especially their latest "Jack has nice bowls".

'Couldn't do that on prime time TV in the past. Although I do think it is obnoxious when sponsors run the same commercial twice (or even three or four times) within one break.

"DO YOU!" Nooo dude, you do you, I'm good.
