You think we have the edge in secondary??

Sure. It's close, but so is the comparison of front-sevens, IMO.

I'd rather have our two safeties than their two, at least for this year. I like Carlos Rogers a lot, but I like Patrick Peterson more. I think that William Gay & Jameel Flemming > Tarrell Brown & Parrish Cox. Part of it is about pass rush. If you replace O'Brien Schofield with Aldon Smith or Ahmad Brooks, I think our defense suddenly doesn't get discounted to the extent it is right now.

OK. I like PP more than Rogers as well. But, Gay and Flemming (a rookie) over Brown and Cox? Man that is splitting hairs. Also, I believe Goldson (who I hate) is more productive than Wilson at this stage of his career, and I think Witner is at least equal to, if not slightly greater than Rhodes...

With regard to the front seven, I think it's clear cut that the 9ers win out there... And um, yea... if we had Aldon Smith or Brooks and the 9ers didn't, things would be different. But, we don't...

Secondary play is really dependent on the front seven in front of them. The 49ers didn't make holding on to Goldson a priority, and Witner wasn't a priority for Buffalo two years ago.

As I said, I'd take our safeties for this year. I think the Cards would prefer to cut bait on Rhodes this offseason and move Rashad Johnson into the starting lineup, but FS is a sleeper first- or second-round draft pick possibility next year. Especially if Flemming shows that he can start, and Johnson continues to be a defensive non-presence.

I would take Whitner over Johnson in a heartbeat!

Yeah but you sure seem to be extrapolating alot here and I have almost cult level respect for Harbaugh. Keep in mind Wiz actually went to the Super Bowl WITH THE ARIZONA CARDINALS (degree of difficultty x 10 - there's a reason JH turned down more money and Miami) and again, the most accurate measure would be head to head since everything else would be fantasy (I.e what does Wiz do with 2010 9ers and JH do with 2007 Cardinals)

You are the one who said you would "trade" Wiz for Harbaugh. I wasn't saying Harbaugh isn't amazing (and again I was banging this drum the MINUTE he got hired for the very reasons you postulated above - check the threads. I was terribky unhappy when he went to SF) but what if Wiz goes 2-0 against him this year and wins the division? You still trading him straight up? I'm sure the answer is still yes, but my take is it will take a little more then a seasons worth of data before I'm trading Wiz for Harbaugh. As other have saidm maybe the league figures him out or maybe his intensity starts to weigh on players. I doubt it but judging this small a sample size is begging for error.

Not that it matters because you can't trade coaches. But Wiz deserves a fair shake to let them match wits as he did go 1-1 last year.
I'm not "extrapolating" anything. I simply don't think the measurement of a head coach should be based on their record against a single team--which seems to be the crux of your argument as well when you talk about sample size, so I'm not sure why you take such exception to my post).

And, BTW, I never said I'd swap coaches with the 9ers (but I probably would--that's not an indictment of Whiz, it's a tip of the hat to who much I think of Harbaugh).
