Not his fault that management had to be dragged into the new century. No one is expected to light it up as of game one, with or without camp. Let's see how he does and the respect will correlate with how he grows into the job.

Bingo, and the kid made a smart business decision. He had 7 million reasons to holdout and it paid off. All this talk about him re-entering the draft next year, was just that...talk.

Another aspect here is that Tom Condon is his agent. Condon is one of the most respected agents in the industry and knows the system in an out. He doesn't take below market value contracts, and has actually screw over teams in deals (e.g. Eagles and Sam Bradford). Condon is not even remotely looking to do that here.

In addition, because Condon represents a number of talented players, this rift may have a carryover effect to San Diego signing some of his other clients.

San Diego's idiocy and lack of foresight is definitely going to hurt them.
Condon isn't Bosa's agent. You really need to start looking into this stuff because talking about it. Brian Ayrault and Todd France were Bosa's agents. These agents are a part of CAA which Condon is also a part of but he wasn't Bosa's agent or the one that was involved in these negotiations.

Yup! Fully guaranteed. $17m signing bonus paid now in return for offset language and structure in years, 2,3,4.

It effect the position Condon took on behalf of his client.

So much for your 70/30!
Nope. The Chargers will still only give him 85% of his signing bonus this calendar year, the rest will be paid out in March (which was always the deal).

The only change that the Chargers made was restructuring his salary payout for years 2,3 and 4. Other than that, the contract that Bosa accepted is the same exact one he rejected last week.

:

You are incorrect.

One of Bosa's agents at CAA Sports, Tom Condon, has sparred plenty with the Chargers over the years. He represented Eli Manning, whose family didn't want the Chargers to take him with the No. 1 pick overall in 2004. San Diego took him anyway, and then traded him to the New York Giants for Philip Rivers. Condon also represented Drew Brees, LaDainian Tomlinson and Marty Schottenheimer, all of whom had unhappy departures from the team.

That's absolutely incorrect. The SD tribune knows more about his agents than oregon live. And if you watched his presser today, he himself said that his main agent was Ayrault with France helping at the end

A critical development in closing the gap between the two sides was a switch of the agent who led Bosa’s negotiations, sources said. The change came after Chargers President of Football Operations John Spanos went public Wednesday, saying the team had made its best offer and agent Brian Ayrault had turned it down. Spanos vowed the offer would only reduce from there. In the days that followed the hard-line stance, a transfer occurred from Ayrault to Todd France, who also works for CAA and co-represents Bosa. “Good cop, bad cop,” one source called it, referring to CAA’s tactic.

From there, negotiations restarted to some degree.

On Sunday morning, before the team kicked off against the Vikings at 10 a.m. PT, the Chargers and France agreed to a deal largely resembling the “best offer” from last week, a deal featuring 85 percent cash payout of Bosa’s $17-million signing bonus, or about $14.45 million, this calendar year, sources said. The rest will be deferred to March. Improved roster-bonus language for Bosa was a notable difference, a source said, from last week’s offer. As long established, Bosa’s contract features offset language.

Neither France nor Ayrault returned a call seeking comment. Spanos declined comment on the agent movement or contract specifics.

“I prefer to keep the details quiet, but I would like to thank Todd France for his professionalism and his help in getting this deal done,” Spanos said.

So the Chargers local newspaper, Joey Bosa himelf and Spanos who negotiated with him all say one guy is the agent and "oregonlive" says another is the agent. Who are you going to believe?

First story had it paid in full.

Timing of payments is no small thing in multi-million dollar deals and "Other than that" is no small thing: "Improved roster-bonus language for Bosa was a notable difference, a source said, from last week’s offer".

So, end the end, we learned some stuff here. Joey Bosa is a stand up dude, the Chargers are too, they both want him on the field and Bodha is probably wearing a Kirkland xxl t-shirt right now. The unfortunate part is, statistically speaking, odds are that Bosa spends more time on the inactive/injury list this year than on the field.

Where do those odds come from?

He did all of the OTA's, then missed camp, and reported to have been working out daily.

I learned what I said the other day when they pulled the offer. They'll put it back they're just trying to make it clear to Bosa they're tired of waiting. Once both sides realized there was a time constraint they got serious and got it done.

I tend ot think the Chargers are the most to blame here.

I agree about it being mostly on the Chargers.

Working out and being in football shape are entirely different things. Also, OTA's are not camp. He's behind the 8 ball now, physically and mentally. I'm not quite sure how anyone could argue that.

The question was where do your odds come from?

JB missed practice today due to "tightness".
