I've been reading how unhappy he is in Rex's defensive scheme and that he will probably be released in the coming weeks...Would he be a fit for the Cards? I can't imagine him getting premium money, but he'd probably be the next in the long list of players to come to AZ on a 1 year "prove it" contract.

He's got nothing to prove. He'll command one of the largest deals in history.
You can sign him if you want, but it won't be a one year deal.

.

No he wont. Not after this last year of production or lack thereof and his age. Already has 11 seasons in the NFL.

I'm all for the Cards getting him but pass rushers are going to be at a premium in this FA market and he's going to be expensive :(. But hey, it's going to take something like this to get to the next level. I hope we can do it somehow

Going to have to apply no risk it no biscuit to the front office this offseason.

This is what I was thinking...Had a drop in production...been in the league since 2006...and just turned 31...He may look for a big payday, but not sure he will find it this year.

I will say the Cardinals need to make an effort and see if Freeny would play one more season for us. Look, compared to what we have right now... Dwight is freaking Reggie White lol

He won't get the money like he would have a few years ago but he would still get a multi year deal. Taking a guess about ten mil a year. His play last year will drive his price down.

I will address this topic like I did with Patrick Peterson's extension.

Top cornerbacks are very expensive.

Top Pass Rushers are even more expensive.

If the Cardinals want a top pass rusher, they have to pay for it. Mario Williams, in my opinion, is a top pass rusher. A physical freak of a player, and if he gets in the open market, he would be, by far, the best option available to play OLBer.

The problem, I do not think he wants to play OLBer. I think he wants to play in a 4-3.

I'm w/ Rug, I think Williams is looking to be a 4-3 DE...not a 3-4 DE which his size is suited for or a 3-4 OLB where he might be too big and too old. I think he still has talent, but it is getting him at the right price and getting him to buy in.

Also, keep in mind that Rex Ryan is a well respected defensive coach among players...if Mario can't get along with him, it might say more about Mario than it does about Rex.

Free agency all brings the words of caution, be careful who you bring into your house. We saw what Murray did to the Eagles, and Murray isn't even a bad guy.

You make a run for Paul Pierre and drop Campbell........

JPP hasn't shown he can play with only 3/4 of his hand. He strikes me as a Keim one year prove it type of player.

I'd be ok signing him, but I'm not getting rid of CC to do it, and I'm also going to try to bring in another pass-rusher as well. Someone without the risk of JPP.

Go Cards!!!

I think that was more a problem of Chip Kelly and not Murray. . .

Stuff I read said he's a 4-3 guy that did not buy into playing a 3-4 with Ryan. I have no idea if that's on Mario or Rex, but John Abraham was a 4-3 guy that did pretty well here playing a different defense. Hell, the Falcons cut him because they were moving to a 3-4 if I remember correctly, and he worked out alright here for the most part.

I think that was more a problem of Chip Kelly and not Murray. . .

I disagree, but that isn't the point. The point is that you never know what kind of impact a player you bring in can have on your locker room. Murray isn't a bad guy, but was a productive veteran who was frustrated in how he was used on a team without leadership on the offensive unit. Murray's frustrations resonated with enough players to turn the locker room on Chip and got him fired. The eagles C Kelce even said he thought the other players were being babies, but all it takes is one proven, veteran voice to erode the team's belief in a coach/system.

This could easily happen with Mario. 4-3 guy who is signed to play in the 3-4.

You keep forgetting about the several players who were dissing Chip before Murray had any reason to be upset and become the cancer you portray him to be. He was very unhappy because the idiot HC didn't know how to use a RB that gained 1800 yds on the ground the previous year.

Kelce always tows the company line, in fact he was one of the players who showed up for new HC Pederson's initial presser. Kelce's nose is browner than a Tastee Cake chocolate cupcake.

First off, what other players were dissing Chip? McCoy? D Jackson? Who were these upset individuals?

Secondly, I never said that Murray was a cancer or that he was not justified. The facts that he was unhappy, and that there wasn't any veteran leadership on the team who helped him adjust. The Fitzgerald situation could have gone this way without Palmer being firmly in Arians corner. Fitz didn't want to play in the slot, didn't want to block, and struggled with the new option routes he was required to run under Arians. Two years later, Fitz embraces the new role, and has his most productive season in years.

I read somewhere today that Mario Williams is a main target for the Seahawks. Apparently (not sure how they did this) they have the 5th largest amount of can space.

Yes the mecentrick Jackson and recently proven punk McCoy. Also add the very centered Brandon Boykin who Chipper traded away this past offseason.

NO WAY IN HELL Fitz goes all negative, he doesn't need Palmer or anyone else to keep his stinking mind right and to suggest otherwise is blasphemy IMO. Fitz was always a good blocker, maybe he has embraced it a bit more. Fitz wasn't sure about playing in the slot but being the team oriented player he is he took that role on.

BA knows how to get players to buy in, Chipper struggles to not turn them off.

So do you actually think that Arians just this year decided to play Fitz in the slot the majority of the time? Arians has wanted Fitz in the slot since day 1, but Fitz didn't want to do it. Along that line, Arians routinely said that you can't force the ball to players during those first two years, and then this year states that he felt that Fitz deserved plays to be called for him since he was willing to do the dirty work inside.

The relationship between Arians and Palmer and Keim is the reason Fitz was forced to change what he saw his role was in the offense. He didn't as much "buy in" as he had two sub par seasons trying to fight Arians on his role, and then accepted the role with the understanding that it would be best for his legacy. Don't kid yourself on this.
