Many addicts remain addicts because of the stigma that is placed on them by people who quite frankly dont understand their daily struggle.

Addicts need help, not labels.

It's ironic how I was the one sticking up for him while others called him an addict, now I'm being criticized for calling him an addict. Hilarious.

I think what was overlooked is he told the cops he SHOT UP cocaine.

Not snort, not smoke, but shot up? Plus he was stealing? He may not be an addict but, that's exactly what addicts do.

Absolutely crazy. Probably the last person on Earth I would ever think this would happen to.

Who knows though, he was in Canada and Canada does tend to have a different viewpoint of drugs. But who knows what, where, when, why.

But I would have to think if someone had just started cocaine and was shooting it up, they'd OD.

Plus if he's shooting up Cocaine, he very well could be shooting up other drugs, and who knows he could give his wife AIDS or something. Potentially very risky.

Yeah if your banging it you got problems, not a damn thing recreational about that, you've been going down hill for some time already. Add in the petty theft and it's pretty telling, his future was the last thing he was thinking about.

Probably the worst thing you can do for any addict is call them an "idiot", instead of "addict". Not that you have anything to do with Max Hall's personal life, but if his friends and family have the same attitude as you, he is more likely to wind up dead than getting help. Addicts want to do almost anything other than stop using, and calling them stupid, or weak, delays them confronting reality.

Hell, I didn't even read the story on Hall. Sticking a needle in your arm is extreme behavior, no one does that just for fun.

This guy could die from his drug use, that's very realistic.

I teach at a high school with a large % of mormons. I remember how many of them would talk about how great he was and he was their favorite player. It's just a bummer on multiple levels.

That's ignorant, and frankly disingenuous. And I suspect you know it. I was the one saying he made a stupid mistake. I said his idiocy was due to being high. You're the one saying he was an addict and had an issue. Your self righteous attitude now, after you dumped all over the guy earlier in this thread is sickening. Don't preach when you come from a place of dingeniousness, dishonesty, and self righteousness.

So I guess it's too early for the "he couldn't thread the needle on the field" jokes? If he was on the whiners we wouldn't even care considering he didn't play very long at all. I wish him some rehab and some good direction, like everyone else strung out on drugs, but I aint going to consider him more or less important than other (current) addicts. It's not like he's had some rough life, which is why this news is pretty surprising.. Max Friggin Hall?? This drops while Wes is popping Molly? I'm just shocked.

I'll never understand the animosity towards former players - at least those that did not trash the organization or other teammates while they were here, and generally tried to do their best given their skillsets/abilties. I don't recall him making PP-type self-promoting statements regarding his abilities as a QB. He just wasn't that good...

It's not animist against former player, it's animosity against a drug addict/coke head.

I am actually going to cut the jokes out at this point. The entire point of cocaine is it's fantastic recreational effects. To be INJECTING it shows that he was clearly addicted, and likely working very hard to hide the addiction from the people around him who no doubt would not treat him compassionately, or so he thought. I don't necessarily think the stealing shows he had money problems, but was likely trying to hide his spending habits from his wife.

I will say there is a lot more drug use in the LDS community than anyone will ever admit, but I would be curious to find out who got him started on the habit.
