Gasol is soft.
Unfortunately, so are pretty much all of the Suns. Amare gets a half rebound per game more than Gasol?

Gasol is a legit NBA star, suggesting the Lakers (who have demolished us and had a better record with Bynum against a tougher schedule) can't beat us or anyone in the NBA in a seven game series is laughable. Right now, they're one of the favorites to win the title and they will not go away for at least another five or six years. Fisher/Kobe/Odom/Gasol/Bynum is a ridiculous lineup. They have three guys who get double-double's almost nightly in the frontcourt, one of if not the best players in the entire world in the backcourt, and fill out the rest of the roster with a savvy veteran PG (Fisher) and a young bench that provides energy (Turiaf), shooting (Radmanovic/Vujajic), defense (Ariza), playmaking (Farmar), and hoops IQ (Walton). And don't forget the head coach who has won nine NBA titles. These guys are going to very difficult to beat.

At first this sounds completely nonsensical, then you realise:

If your team is one of the worst in the west, how do you make it EVEN WORSE to try and get that elusive #1 draft pick.

They are in full rebuild mode now, time for us to take a shot at mike miller.

The Griz are looking to get Michael Beasley I bet. Best college scorer I've seen. I wish the Sonics or Suns could get em' though.

This is really bad news.

When Bynum returns, are the Lakers the favorites to win the west then?

Yeah we can stop worrying about the spurs now. The lakers with gasol instead of kwame are the best on paper, and its not that close even.

It would be nice to have KT around to help defend all these bigs now.

Hello PJ, please come to Phoenix. We need you.

And that Mem deal is terrible. I still rate the Atl pick. I wouldn't give it up, with Marion for Miller and Darko of all people. Just trade Marion alone and we keep the pick. Atl are bound to go down in flames.

I don't get how when there was trade talk involving Gasol to PHX, we would have had to give up Amare. Yet the Lakers get Gasol by giving up Brown and some late first round picks. Brown is completely worthless.

The Suns gave up two first round picks in order to trade away an expiring contract of a valuable big man KT for nothing.

The Lakers trade two first round picks and in the process unload a worthless player in Brown and get an all-star in return.

If we still had KT, wouldn't he be a great piece to package in a trade for all those teams looking for expiring contracts? If we still had those picks?

If this trade were the other way around, it would get voted down by the league. But since it's the Lakers--it won't matter.

This is a classic fantasy trade that would be vetoed in a second by knowledgeable basketball fans.

Forget the picks, I'm sure that Memphis would've considered Barbosa over the crap that they got in return for Pau. And where was Chicago on this? John Paxson is a moron.

The NBA also didn't do anything about McHale and Ainge colluding to get KG to Minnesota when there were better offers on the table. No clue what Memphis is thinking here, at least get Turiaf or Farmar as well.

That's not true Chap. I did this trade in NBA2K8 a month ago, so it has to be legit. Right? ;)

Now we can officially, 100% undeniably say that sarvers money ultra-pinching antics have bit us hard in the ass. So hard, in fact, that we are missing our entire bowel (both small intestine and large intestine) as well as a piece of the liver and stomach.

Thanks, sarver!

If the Suns didn't give up on a championship and trade KT, maybe they _could_ have sent KT, 2 picks, and Barbs to Mem for Gasol. That would have been a better offer than the Lakers one and just think about Gasol, Amare, Marion, Bell, Nash. I'm ill.

Yes, I consider trading a contributing player for nothing a great sign that ownership's main priority is clearly not winning a championship. I don't think KT is a stud, but the point is they made a move that unquestioningly made them worse on the court and hindered their chances of making a trade to help the team later (on account of the missing draft picks).

The difference between KT and Skinner is negligible, and certainly not the linchpin on winning a championship.

Make one of those the Atlanta pick and other filler and Memphis probably would've thrown in Mike Miller.

The trend of giving away draft picks expiring K's is killing this organization. Some contending teams were built using those two things.

Actually we can now say it doesnt matter what sarver pinched. Keeping KT wouldnt have made a difference. The lakers should be a comfortable favorite with gasol. Danny ainge must feel like he's been outdone now. That trade was incredibly lopsided, the first round picks will be worthless(end of the first round for sure), as is kwame. Its just salary cap relief, and a few near worthless picks for gasol. And memphis gets to tank the year without being accused of doing it, they dont have to sit anybody with an "injury" to be one of the worst 2-3 teams in the league.

I am not debating the value of KT versus Skinner, Chap. That's an irrelevant issue. Remember, they did not have Skinner secured before moving KT.

I am stating that they traded something for nothing (excluding money). That is undeniably not the behavior of a team doing everything in its power to win a title. I'm not concerned as much with the value KT had on the court so much as the trade value that his expiring contract and the picks had. Today, it is apparent that those assets are not worthless, as the Suns estimated.

Except KT had a fairly large expiring contract that had the potential to be worth something this season. That's what made KT much more valuable than Skinner.

Unfortunately it is true. Not to say KT is an absolutely amazing player, but the problem was he helped cover our most horrid, now absolutely deplorable weaknesses.

We are horribly undersized, the worst rebounding team in the league, horrible interior defense where Amare is a foul machine, and horrible at boxing out so not just the player who boxed gets the boards but so somebody else on our team can grab it instead of teams getting multitudes of offensive rebounds against us.

Double teaming duncan is going to royally screw us when parker is healthy again!

A team like NOH and now especially LAL are going to outrebound us so bad it is going to be flat out grotesquely disgusting. With as bad of rebounding as we have, with all the size mismatches, with the horrid interior d, and with not enough outside shooting... We are sunk!

Call me a pessimist I don't even care anymore! After seeing this trade after we got bent over in the KT deal I have lost my sanity!!

This is just another reminder why the Suns hurt themselves with such a small team.

You can have all the talent of the Suns. But When you have talented Bigs "That" is what makes the most impact.

But I am in the Mike Miller Band wagon big time.

That's the thing though. It's not that KT would help all that much against the stacked front line of the Lakers, but that he could have, perhaps, been traded for something of value rather than absolutely nothing.

Of course maybe the Suns passed up on Memphis because they have something better in the works. I can dream until the trading deadline.
