DOn't get too excited over Memphis just yet. They are still just .500 after Barone took over, after the win tonight. The Lakers were due for a letdown after their "big" (elite?) win over the Mavs.

The Bulls are without Ben Wallace and Andreas Nocioni and they are STILL pounding the Memphis Grizzlies by 45 points!

Atlanta now has the 3rd worst record in the league. Charlotte & Boston both have 1 more win than they do. Charlotte has won 3 in a row, despite having the worst point differential in the league -5.8ppg.

********, Toronto choked.

First Bosh tips the jumpball against Buckner to Dirk then they lets Howard stand open under the basket to make the gamewinning layup with 0.9 seconds to go.

some interesting bits from this Peter Vecsey piece I read:
http://www.nypost.com/seven/01142007/sports/tangled_webb_sports_peter_vecsey.htm?page=3
"After watching Jason Kidd play with renewed vim and vigor, Lawrence Frank ordered all his players to file for divorce," reports column contributor Dino Di Pietro. "Even if they're not married."
yoo hoo! I didn't know "quite frankly .." has been cancelled. yesss.

How can anyone be expected to nourish their noggins now that "Quite Frankly with Stephen A(nal) Smith" has been cancelled? So much for never going wrong by dumbing down your programming to appeal to the lowest common denominator.
Of course, if we want hear someone blathering incomprehensibly on the tube, we can continue to count on Charlatan Barkley or Paula Abdul.

Sergio Rodriquez had a pretty good game tonight for Portland. 23 pts (on 11-14 shooting), 10 assists and 3 steals in 30 minutes. I watched some of the game and he made some very Nash-like passes for easy layups and dunks. His defense looked pretty similar to Nash's and he even did a decent job staying in front of Allen Iverson. I really wish we had kept this guy.

From D'Alessandro in Sporting News:

"That rivalry between Mavericks SG Jerry Stackhouse and the Utah Jazz is getting shrill. He admittedly hates Jerry Sloan's team and charges that the Jazz gets away with incessant holding and plays a "fake physical game" that includes something he calls "coward basketball." Not surprisingly, after Stack got tossed from the teams' last meeting with two flagrant fouls, Sloan laughed at him."

Gotta love Jerry Sloan.

Stack bounced for two flagrants in one game? Both "unintentional," I'm sure.

We did exactly the same thing to lose to the Mavs last time, plus an and-1!:(

Sergio got 9 assists in 23 minutes the other night against the Cavs.

::tears of frustration::

I'm starting to wonder about D'A. Gaddabout suggested he has a beef with young point guards (perhaps he judges them by the standards he judged himself on).

Lakers lose again, this time to the Hornets. Can we really keep taking the Lakers seriously if they lose to poor teams. I'm sure they'll be better when Odom gets back though.

The Heat just gift-wrapped another win for Dallas. Two TO's, 3 missed free throws, and inability to secure a defensive rebound in the final minutes.

I guess we're going to have to hear about Dallas having the better record a while longer, despite the fact that through 39 games we have identical records, but we've yet to play game 40 whereas they've now played 42.

Yeah, guess you'll have to!!

You forgot this part "despite the fact the Mavs beat the Suns twice."

Then shouldn't your team have only six losses? I mean, you beat us twice, and you still have as many losses as we do.

I didn't "forget" that fact as you say. I was talking about overall win-loss record, not head-to-head record.

The Heat shot better than 48% and had only 7 turnovers. Looks like that legendary Mavericks defense is really putting its death grip on the rest of the league.

The Mavs don't get any credit for that win because the Heat didn't have Shaq playing....... :p

As long as they don't internally explode, that will be one scary team to play in the playoffs.
