Interesting....

I want to give Warner the benefit of the doubt, but he has to show me that he is up the challenge. No excuses, no throwing teammates under the bus, just results. We have someone waiting in the wings if he is not ready. (just like last year)

Its also easy to forget how his time in STL and in NY ended. We know how good, and how bad, he can be. Which way is he heading right now? I've never seen a player who has to prove himself so often, but he really needs to again or else its Matty time.

Coming off surgery if Warner posts:
71/120 59.1% 784yds 3td 4int 73.1 rating
and the Cardinals are 1-2 going into the week 4 bye should he be benched?

That is where Peyton was last year.

Warner has always had problems with the Tampa 2 defense. That is probably page one on how to beat a Kurt Warner led offense. If the defense is getting pressure with four guys most of the time with 5 added in on a few plays for a quick sack like the 9ers did.

If Warner is'nt in sync with his Wide Recievers from the get go then it is normally a long day.I will always give him the fourth quarter tho.He has become quite magical over the years in the fourth quarter for some reason and even beat the Tampa Two with a awesome throw to Ricky Proehl when it was meant for another reciever to be running that route, and it beat the Warren Sapp led Bucs to go to SB 34.

So I've never given up on Kurt in any game he's in.He can get on a roll of scoring drives like he did in one post season game with Nawlin's and if not for a fumbled punt by Az Hakim the lambs would've come back from the biggest deficit ever in a post season game.He did all of this with a concussion too. That was in 2000-2001 post season. The year Marshall Faulk won the league MVP.

I still don't give up on Kurt Warner unless his bones are sticking out when he's taking a snap.He just comes up with plays sometimes that make us all shake our heads the good way.I hope all the folks that broke thier legs jumping off the band wagon from last weeks game can't find a seat back on the wagon.Even the harshest critics need to step up if Warner has a great game in the rain on the East coast in the Early game.

I predict if it happens they just won't post of they'll find something else he did wrong besides be part of the win. This thread has the plan Warner is out after the bye week.I don't think thats gonna happen.Thats MY OPINION and I think the defense is gonna help Warner out and his wide recievers are gonna start bringing in everything around them. This team is gonna grow slowly this season. It won't be a blowout in the bad weather.

I have a quiet confidence and am not as worried as I was last weekend.Glad we play the early game really.I have more time to celebrate during the watching of the second and Sunday night game.Am I gonna ask anyone to eat crow after all the things said last week?NEVER.Its what makes this place so special. We have two quarterbacks of talent on our team and I'm not in a big hurry to see the Hall of Famer sit on the bench and earn that much money.I don't think Coach Whiz is either.

Just please don't call me a Warnerphille.Thats so childish.I don't make fun of or ever say anything bad about Matt.I can even spell his last name right.I DO NOT think Warners hip hurts him anytime but when he is standing still and he only said that about 4 weeks ago before a pre-season game to an announcer.I'm sure he is doing much better by now.Its all about his timing and protection.Once he gets his confidence back and does'nt have to pry himself off the ground on every play he will show us some great drives once again.

I don't drink so you can't accuse me of being drunk.I just think Kurt knows it time to lead and not by excuses but to have a say in the gameplan and maybe to even run the no-huddle with him calling the plays. If only Whiz would let him do it again. Will he? Lets see.The Jags secondary is'nt as tough as it once was.Thier fans are not excited at all about this years team or coach who is on the hot seat for sure.No sellout is expected.Just rain. That may even keep more fans away.It sure won't be loud with everyone with thier hands under the plastic.

Doug, I can appreciate your view point and I will be the happiest guy in the room if I am eating crow about Warner after this week. But I am reasonably skeptical to think this will be another tough game for Warner. It might not even be how many TO's. It could be when they happen.

So I ask that if Warner does have another bad game and is mediocre in a shoot out with Peyton Manning you will have the clearness of thought that Warner is no longer that QB.

See here's the thing. Alot of QB's deteriorate with age. But some can continue their success if the can learn to be come "part of a game plan" rather then the "entire" offensive game plan. I am rightfuly skeptical of Warner ability to be a "game manager of sorts and its just a given that with age you lose velocity and mobility.

The problem with that is Kurt is a QB you HAVE to have be the center of the offense. Thats the difference between Warner and even Brett Farve.

So I will be all smiles here Monday if he blows up in Jax. In fact I'll give him my avatar for the week.

Buy you have to agree that once the season is on the brink (whether that's 0-3 or 2-6 or what) that we have to go to Matt.

You on board with that?

Warner still has job if we're 1-2. But if his rating is that low, I'm hoping Matty is staying loose, because it'll look like he's going to get a shot pretty soon.

I'll be the first to go with that.I'm all for the team and wins.It will be sad and confusing how he lost it so quick and the recievers never responded but I'm all for the quickest qb we have with the best completion percentage. We need to get this puppy on track and in a hurry.I just don't want Matt to need anymore protection than Kurt is recieving.Lets give them both the same chance at succeeding is all I ask.I would like to see the no-huddle that so much time was spent on in pre-season but has yet to show its head as Fitzgerald had mentioned after one of our desperate pre-season loses.

Give Kurt one more chance to show he can lead by calling his own plays and not the stuff Whiz dialed up last week.I think by now Warner if anyone has seen enough and could get the job done in reading defenses and calling plays as say a oreo licker like manning.Maybe we get the play off in time then.:D

I have written the man off once before and made a tit out of me, i think he has done enough for us for me to allow him the chance to redeem himself. So I'm not going to jump on him just yet.

The problem with this analogy is that Warner is like 8 years older that Manning and the Cards have a young QBOF in Leinart whereas the Colts have a proven nothing in Jim Sorgi. The National League All Star team would have an easier time sitting Al Pujols during a slump than the STL Cards would.

(With credit to Bill Parcells) "It is what it is."

Either Kurt - as he has in the past - will adjust and rebound...or he won't.

And if he can't shed his funk and stop doing the things that, in the past have gotten him into trouble (like hanging onto the ball too long, muffing snaps, putting the ball on the ground or throwing into coverage in order to make plays that aren't there)...if he can't do that, I'm guessing we could see Matt Leinart after Bye Week.

That's not to say I predict this is what will happen (too many of us are overly glib and "certain" about writing off certain players or annointing others), but logic would suggest that we could very well see Plan B starting to appear just above the horizon-line should Kurt continue on his current track.
