Baloney. When you figure that out-of-towners usually get to see around 4 or 5 games on TV for free each season, that means you're paying all that money for probably 11 games. Far cheaper to hit up a local sports bar. Then, you get the game, and food and drink, for cheaper than it is to simply watch at home. Sure, it's better to hang out in the comfy chair at home, but it isn't worth it when it is THAT much more to do so...unless you have plenty of extra cash, of course.

I'll bet ya some cash you wont see see 4 to 5 games televised locally in your TV market.

I know for a fact that I would have been lucky to get 1 last year and I live on the freaking west coast 300 miles away. About the only game you can guarantee you will get will be the Steeler game. The team has ZERO nationally televised games this season.

On top of that I think the enjoyment I get out of 10 Cards game sis worth EVERY stinking penny. I travel to about 4 to 5 games a year so I'm only using it for 10-11 games anyway and still well worth it.

You clearly have money to burn, then. Like I said, if it isn't a big deal for you financially, it does make sense.

I don't know why you don't get many games. I think I had 4 last year, but I am estimating.

I definitely don't have money to burn. I just choose what I spend my entertainment dollars on. The sheer enjoyment I get from watching Cards games and the 3.5 hours of enjoyment it gives me is worth it IMO.

I look at it this way. I don't and won't spend 60-70 bucks a pop for a PPV event such as boxing or UFC. Try multiplying that two hour event by 70.00 10 times a year?

Or imagine a concert? Average price at least here in Vegas for a decent venue and artist I would say is an easy 100 dollars a person. Many are 150.00 a person or more Do 3 or 4 of those a year? Me personally? I would rather go to games and watch cardinal games on TV and not hope and wonder if or when I'm going to be able to watch one. All thetime and football talk I get with all of you after each game is priceless. They are visual memories I could/would never get back. I just can't imagine nit seeing some of those amazing Boldin TD runs. Or Fitzgerald's halftime hailmary catch fir a TD etc.... not seeing it live just isn't the same. 320.00 bucks a year really isn't a lot IMHO. Especially when I see my emotional return on investment.

Having two children prevents me from being able to go to a bar, so I end up paying. Watching the Cardinals, even when they lose, is one of the highlights of my week and I can't imagine not having it. Would I like it to be cheaper, yes. Am I willing to work a few weekends for a buddy of mine who is self eoployed so I can have some extra scratch to spend on it, yes

Please everyone do me a favor and call DirectTV and ask for what type of deals they are offering when you renew. I don't have DirectTV but I go to a buddies house every Sunday to watch the games. He has yet to pay full price for the full pacakge in 5 years. In 2009 to be exact it averaged out to $24 per month for the season.

edit: I also remember him specifically speaking to the NFL Sunday Ticket Department. Don't know if they still have an actual department that handles just the Sunday Ticket stuff.

Mitch, I have an instrument distribution business and my basic costs have risen 15% over the past year; but I understand your concern. The price $20.25/game is not bad when we want to watch the Cardinal games each week, while living in NJ. I probably cold go to the local pub and watch the games and spend the same. I generally go to Phoenix when they have back to back weeks at home, but with my wife's medical bills, I will not be going this year.

$20.00/game is O.K. with me. I just do not want to miss a game.

But you're getting food with it and/or alcohol. It's easy to equate money for money, but you pay that much AND you don't get the beer or wings to go with it.

True but I can make that stuff at home for a fraction of the cost. Also don't have to deal with drunk morons, smoke in a bar depending on where you live or just the overall obnoxious fan you see in many bars. 20 bucks per game is chump change for the level of enjoyment received! Most bars I know of don't have big plushy leather recliners to enjoy either. :)

I agree with you on this part Shane. Before last year I would go the a local bar to catch Cardinal games and would have to suck in all that smoke and when I got the bill I usually spent $25-$35 on food and drink (Mmm Beer). Do this twice a month and I have spent as much as what ST cost.

For me its getting to be more a principle thing that the cost.

$324 to sit in your home and watch every single game when the team you support is 2000 miles away is not a high price to pay. If you drink, gamble or smoke, none of which I do, it would seem to be a drop in the bucket by comparison. Considering how much it costs to travel to Cardinal games it's a steal. I haven't missed a game of their's via SundayTicket since 1994. My son, who lives even farther away has it as well and every sunday we put the game on, call on our cell phones and talk the whole time. It's like we're together for the games. I may be in the minority but I think it's the greatest.

You can work Direct TV over if you threaten them with cancelation but honestly that gets old.

Between Hulu and Netflix you can vastly reduce your costs, just need an antenna, and be able to stream to your tv.

That's the future IMO anyhow, on demand, anytime, for a smaller fee.

I doubt the NFL wants any part of the smaller fee thingy.

I called today with every intention of canceling Sunday Ticket. They offered me $20 off my subscription rate for 12 months. I realize that time value of money deflates the savings a bit, but the $240 annual savings takes the sting outta the $324 for the Ticket.

Time wasted trying to find one that works all the time. Picture quality sucks generally. Directv gives me guaranteed access all the time without question in FULL HD on my big screen. Worth every penny.

The on line coverage of the NCAA tourney is the future.

With the discount that comes from calling and threatening to cancel, it is well worth the money. Even when the Cards aren't worth watching.

You have to get the the account save specialists they have the most room to get things done.

If you want a HUGE savings threaten to turn the whole damn Dish off, cry poor, the economy, locusts, then sigh into the phone.

If you can actually sob this works even better but don't be fake about it, you have to sell it.

I got several months FREE Dish like this, plus free HD access, plus free HBO and others, they just kept tossing things at me to stay so I did.

Hmm, silly rep must've thought I had a sexy voice (little does she know I've grown fat with complacency). Or, maybe she just took pity on me because when she asked why I was terminating I said, "well, my team just sucks so badly that I cannot, in good conscience, throw more money away on that torment.". She asked who my team was. When I said cardinals she just said, " ohhh...let me see what I can do."

Dish or DTV?

(I ask because I have Dish...and love it; I'd hate if they called me on it and I had to cancel!)

When I moved into my new house 5 years ago, I called DTV and made up some ridiculous offer that Dish was supposedly offering me to switch. DTV matched all of it.

I did ask them today why they give all these deals to new customers (I know the reasoning behind it) but do nothing for guys like me who have been with them since '97. The guy didn't have a good answer.
