some interesting points from the cardinals blog

- pace beat out blackstock in preseason, and not everyone on here thought he should.
- and urban says "wow" about 3 times talking about the 20 mil guaranteed for pace.

come on guys. we have more needs than pace. he was a contract year player, he was actually trying. 20 mil guaranteed isnt a real motivator. i would have been more angry if we gave him that money.

He wont be giving up his pay, it will just be made more cap and team friendly... As it stands now, Fitz agent wants the team to give him the world on a 4 year deal that would force the Cards to once again renegotiate after 3 years... Graves screwed the pooch, but Fitz also appears to be being unreasonable... If no deal is done, I wouldn't cry to see both Fitz and Graves given their tickets out of town...
Cap and team friendly in a way that he may not even see the some of it eventually if he gets injured, gets cut, etc. Right now it is pretty much guaranteed for him if he is on the roster, which he will be.

Where did you find the first line in your quotes because Urban didnt say that. I also only only counted the word "WOW" exactly 1 time.

Pace had to beat out Darryl Blackstock for the job

thats the copy paste. and i wasn't quoting, and im sorry. i misremembered him saying he was suprised the other time for another wow. jeez we need games to start for you ShaneH. or at least a coloring book.

Nowhere in the link you provided does it say anything even remotely close to this "pace beat out blackstock in preseason, and not everyone on here thought he should."

Im just wondering where you get this stuff from.

I have plenty of coloring books though thx.

not everyone on here thought he should was ME. aka when i said i wasn't quoting him, some points from the blog. he made the point that hey, pace had to beat this guy out. i say people on here didn't think he should. go back to the threads when he was announced the starter. people weren't dancing in the streets. here refers to www.arizonasportsfans.com . maybe instead of coloring books we can get some beginning reading books.

I'm not gripping over the lose of Pace but Pace and BJ,once he signs somewhere else, keeps the Cards, and Graves, distinguished record of 1st round draft pick leaving after their initial contract in tact. Maybe that's why Graves is having hard time re-structuring Fitz because he's never had to do a 2nd contract for a 1st round pick. That's a pretty amazing stat to me. I think you have to go all the way back to Eric Swann to get a guy who stayed past his initial contract, maybe Tom Knight.

Every team loses players during free agency. Just take a look at the Giants and the Patriots.
Giants lost astarting lb and safety.
Patriots have lost at this point Moss, Stallworth, Samuel, Colvin, and will probably lose Their safety and other CB. Oh , and Seau needs surgery on BOTH shoulders.

So far , we lost Pace.

What are you talking about? Right now he is guaranteed NOTHING!!! If he makes the 53 man roster he is guaranteed 14.5 mil, obviously a forgone conclusion unless he blows out a knee or something in a pickup basketball game. The signing bonus numbers on the restructure are in the 25 mil to 30 mil range and he gets that when he signs the contract.

I don't think Fitz is being greedy, doesn't seem like his style, but Parker is for sure and Fitz isn't instructing him not to be. Parker wanted a 4 year deal with a ballooned year 4 salary so we could go through this again in 3 years.

Maybe Pace got Joey Porter's money. Joey should be a roster casualty. Factor in some of Zach Thomas' money and the Dolphins can afford Pace.

Please make sure my name is on the top of that. :D

I'd be proud to be lead of that group.

The only part of that scenario is that there is a chance Berry is hurt by week 4.

Pace "Lighting it up" come on. The guys is not LT for pete's sake

Tom Knight left at the end of his rookie contract. Appropriately Knight spent his last game with the Cards on the sidelines with a pulled hamstring.

He played well enough to outprice himself from our team. We couldn't carry 3 LBs that average 7 million a piece. You have to spread it around. That would be like a WR making 16 million......wait.

But seriously, Pace is gone so that we can keep Dansby, and Johnson is gone to keep Fitz and Boldin. The key here is that we replace them with mid-tier guys or rookies. In Pace's case Okeafor will replace him, but now we lack depth and still have to fix the other OLB position.

Truth be told I like having this problem... it mean we are getting some talent on this team. Now we just need to prove that we can replace them. Best of luck to Pace. I think it is a decent signing by Miami. He will do well in their defense if it is run like Parcells runs it. Yes, he was overpaid, but horrible teams have to overpay guys to get them.

Sheesh, I wish people would read, if not keep up with the news on their own. Pace HAS NOT SIGNED with the Dolphins. That was debunked last night and confirmed again, by Pace himself no less, today. It doesn't mean he won't sign with them, but he has not yet.

Well, I post while at work, so I am not able to read all 7 pages. Plus, why bother to read when we have you to correct everyone? The theory and point of my post isn't where he signs, because it won't be in AZ. It is why you have to let him go if he is going to demand the type of money being tossed around when you see his name.

I dunno. I'd be fine with 20 million guaranteed for 6 years, and I could live with it for 5 years. He'd be our starter and I think he'd be worth it.

7 mil average maybe a bit of a stretch. Could be about 5.5 mil once Dansby signs long term, and if Paces contract is structured right. Sorry, I just don't have much confidence in Graves finding a better and cheaper replacement for Pace.
