Seems now very unlikely he can clear for Thur IMO.
That said while I get what people are saying and he's clearly on borrowed time at 36 nearly 37, I still think people are way too quick to pile on him.
This is a guy who in his career has 2 seasons where he completed less than 60% of his passes, this year with only 4 games, and 2008 where he only played 4 games. He's come back from several major injuries and yet has always been a guy who stands in the pocket and takes hits to get the ball off.
Yes he throws too many picks but again in THIS offense I don't see how you can't. Dak Prescott wouldn't have come close to an NFL rookie record for most attempts without a pick if he were our QB because we'd be requiring him to throw the ball downfield. For THIS offense, Palmer has been terrific. My guess is his best days are behind him but I still think people don't appreciate enough how good he's been.
42 games 76 TD's to 41 picks, both full seasons well over 4000 yards, and all the wins.
I agree we need to be finding a QBOTF but one of the things I most dislike on the game day threads are all the Palmer bashing comments from people who seem to not get how much better he's been than what we had before. I've been watching us play since 1974 and I can tell you I've only seen 2 QB's for us better than Palmer, Warner and Lomax.
I hope he gets back quickly and I hope he can turn this thing around, but if he can't, I do hope people get how difficult it's going to be to replace him.
