Thanks for the info. My wife is a huge Jets fan and so our house was rooting hard for you in the playoffs this year.
Cards biggest issue has been covering TE's, if KR can shut them out this trade is a huge plus.

This could be HUGE!!!!!!!

How many times was Adrian burned by TE's???

Olsen - Davis - Shockey - Carlson etc.....

Get Adrian in the BOX!!!!!!!!

The coaches began to have doubts about the desire of Rhodes, who has aspirations of having an acting career after football. So Ryan and defensive coordinator Mike Pettine pulled him from the base defensive package in favor of Eric Smith.

Rhodes was on the sideline for New York's opening defensive snap against Carolina on Nov. 29, the first time in his NFL career that he didn't start.

He returned to the starting lineup at Tampa Bay on Dec. 13 following a meeting with defensive backs coach Dennis Thurman -- one of the conditions set by Ryan. Rhodes appeared refocused and motivated the rest of the season and into the playoffs, finishing with three interceptions and a career-high 13 passes defensed.

The same thing has been happening here all week.

Yep. it's just the way fans are. Dump on the guys that leave, get all hyped about the guys who stay.

Gotta say though, I think the breaks fell our way on this one and we wound up with the better player. That's cold hard analysis by me. I'm not being homerish at all! :D

I don't know I gotta say in my time at ASFN I have seen Rolle get critized a lot. It remained pretty consistent up until this past year.

Yeah, I know. that's why i think Rhodes is better. But, IF Rolle had re-signed with us, you know, as well as i do, that most posts would've been "Great Job Cards!"

I'm really excited about this. I was happy with the idea of trading Boldin for Rhodes straight up. Given that we've essentially gained Rhodes and a third for Boldin, I'm ecstatic.

I loved Rolle for his dynamic return ability, but I think Rhodes will be perfect to pair with Wilson back there. If we re-sign Matt Ware, the safety position could go from being extremely iffy to a real strength on this team.

as huge as this is, it is almost as big to re-sign Ware or another safety who can play that role to let Adub play in the box.

Excellent trade. We haven't had a solid, true FS here since Lassiter. Rhodes' penchant for publicity is a little frightening, but a smaller market team might help him stay straight. If nothing else, he's definitely an improvement over Johnson or Ware.

This defense obviously needed some changes. Watching guys like Rolle and Dansby leave was tough, but moves like this remind me that their departures could be for the greater good. Nice work, Whis and RG.

I hope people think of things like this the next time they want to overreact over what they think Graves should and shouldn't be doing.

Lassiter was an overrated player, he was as bad in coverage as Rolle...he just played on some really bad teams so it made him look better. Lassiter was an excellent special teamer though.

I hope we sign Ware. Depth is critical as we've seen the last two years. No more Ralph Browns, Franciscos, Abudullahs, Celestins, etc..

We need quality depth in that secondary. Not having it has killed us the last two years

This does lessen the blow of losing Rolle. The Jets were having problems with this guy though. Hopefully a change of scenery will do him good. If he goes back to his form a couple of years ago we may have a steal. At 6-3 though, I wonder just how good he will be in coverage if he has to go against wide receivers. I have not really watched the guy play so I don't have a sound opinion one way or the other but at least it appears that we got a decent player in his prime to replace Rolle. For now I will let Graves back out from under the bus and see what else he comes up with.

Losing Warner was unexpected. Losing Dansby was expected. I don't blame Graves at all for those two. Having both Rolle and Boldin still under contract though gave us all the leverage we needed to keep both of them. I do blame Graves for losing them. There will never be a day that I would think losing them was a good idea. I would rather have Boldin and Rolle back. I do think Rolle will be a probowl safety for years to come and was just scratching the surface of what he will become down the road last year. We did save alot of money trading for Kerry Rhodes and it appears we got a very good player as well. We'll have to see how he plays this year to see if we got a steal or not. But at least Graves did go out and get a replacement for Rolle so for now I think we can come back in and get off the ledge.

What are you guys talking about getting back to the player he was a couple of years ago? The guy was benched for an attitude adjustment. He game back the last 5 weeks of the year and 3 playoff games and was dominant at the position. Thats the guy we traded for. You can bet that Whiz has watched enough tape on the guy and talked to him personally before pulling the trigger as well. He is 27 in his prime and has a superb contract. All is well in Safety land in AZ.

He is an upgrade. No ifs ands or buts.

I still like the potential of Rolle but potential only gets you so far. Rhodes has played at a Pro Bowl level at this position. He seemed to have issues with the Jets current regime (for whatever reason) and change of scenery may have been in order. This trade was done with the approval of our new DB coach, who also happened to be his coordinator a few years ago.

I was okay with the rumored trade with him and Boldin where we also got a 5th rounder. Instead we for all intents and purposes get him and a 3rd rounder for Boldin - thats pretty damn good no matter how you slice it.

Just going on what I have been reading online about the guy tonight. His first three years he seemed to be playing at a very high level and then the last two years he was not as good ( from what I have been reading about him). Until I can find some game tape on the guy or watch him play this year all I can go on is what I am reading by the so called experts. The Jets fans themselves seem mixed about his play as well. I completly agree about him being in his prime and having a superb contract though. I do feel better about the safety position though having Kerry Rhodes back there versus Rashod Johnson.
