It is worth noting that I don't think much of Schefter and his sources at this point, and he's not exactly characterizing the Niners as front runners or anything.

Ugh. As dissapointing as it is for Manning not to come to Arizona, I'd be really upset if he goes to the 49ers.

How are people do surprised by this? They were mentioned as a possible candidate from the get go and when they didn't re-sign Smith the writing was all over the wall. I would have been more surprised if the didn't at least look at him. What's really peeing me off is all of the interested teams with a realistic shot (no not Miami)of Manning have reports of him working out for the team and getting a physical--except Arizona. WTF? SF getting Manning automatically makes them the favorites to win the SB over DEN, and TEN. If he wants to win it all he will go to SF.
Again, Manning going to the 9ers would devastate me - my favorite non-cardinal going to my most hated team.
Ugh.
