Peter King wrote well for many years. With print media dieing rapidly he's transitioned into TV. With a shrinking job market, we'll see if he lasts.

His verbal delivery is flat and he's ugly. Not Clayton ugly but ugly. If they were both women, they would not be working on camera.

As far as his message -- that Rosenhaus will get his way -- he's just guessing. Ocho Cinco failed. TO succeeded. Graves will do what he and Whisenhunt see as best for the Cardinals.

Either way we have another division title to win. And hopefully then some. Never say never, but the odds are he stays. Good odds.

I agree. Boldin gets traded only in our best interest - Cards hold all the 'cards".

I think he should be traded. It's better for the team in the long-term, and it's what Boldin wants.

Sadly, I agree. And it should be with Philly..they are going nowhere fast, so it is okay imo to trade with them.

Agree. Everything I'm hearing and reading indicates the Cardinals will put something on the table in the region of 8-9 million per year. In other words, less than Larry, but comparable to Burress and Williams. I read something about how they (Cardinal management) realize that Q is significantly underpaid relative to Larry and the current market and would like to reward him. It is basically the consistent message Rod Graves has sent from the beginning. Q is part of our core and a very good pro-bowl level player and we want him here.

IMO, it will take a blockbuster deal to pry him away and I'm not sure there is anybody out there willing to commit to the multiple draft choices and the contract it will take. But we'll know in the next 4-6 weeks one way or the other.

Also, if the Cards get into negotiations with Drew and Quan, and there is a big gap in what the 2 sides view as Q's worth, the Cards may feel they are better off getting something out of Q then letting him walk in 2 seasons.

They also might think they might be getting something be making him stay for the next two years......like a Lombardi Trophy.

With all this talk about trading Boldin you must remember that this team has the PROVEN talent to make it to the Superbowl. They were an Aaron Fransisco slip ,or an Antrell Rolle not blocking Fitzgerald away from already having one. Screwing that talent base up over "feelings" is ridiculous, IMO. There are no two, three, or four draft picks that are going to A. make up for Quan's talent, or B. guarantee to have the oppourtunity to keep a championship roster together.

The Cardinals have only lost two guys from last year's squad, and are looking to upgrade some depth postions to make it stronger. The Cardinals have been working towards this kind of success for years, and it would make no sense to not take full advantage of the oppourtunity that is before them.

If that was the case, the trade would obviously take place next off-season seeing as Quan is under contract another 2 years.

The Cards can still use the F-tag in two years and make it three more years as a Cardinal. With Q's next two years of pay and the f-tag for a third year his salary would still be considered very low for the production he puts out.

After 3 years Q's worth would be greatly diminished and wouldn't bring the Cards back anything, but also Q wouldn't be getting any big contract offers from other teams either.

So I still say the only way Q is going to get another big pay-day in the NFL, is to re-sign an extension with the cards.

:yeahthat: And what they have to offer is more than fair.

On a semi-unrelated topic here is an article about the Giants and released reciever Amani Toomer. They like this years WR group like most teams do.

1. King and his other cohorts in the media have to fill up air and print space leading up to the draft and, so they figure they'll torture Cardinal fans (and titilate Giant and Eagle fans) by regurgitating the same old Boldin trade rumor every three days or so.

2. The (expected) no-show of Q and Edge at the first OTA gave the media an excuse to air the rumor still again.

3. Just curious, but who on the Eagles would you want in exchange for Anquan? (For the life of me, I can't think of anyone - even McNabb or Westbrook whose shelf lives aren't likely to be very long).

4. Which means - we'd have to accept a trade for draft choices. Tell you what - Unless Philly or the Giants offered their entire 2009 draft plus a #1 from 2010 (similar to the Ditka offer to Washington for the right to draft Ricky Williams) I wouldn't be interested in parting with Q.

5. I want him here. I want him happy. Don't deal him; re-sign him. To paraphrase the Tracy Morgan character on SNL: "Fix it!"

I completely agree with everything in your post. I think that Boldin, when healthy is a top 5 receiver in the league and his style is a perfect contrast to Fitz. I deep down hope that we can work something out with Q and that he can stay healthy and happy. I just hope that something can be done before it all boils over.

I do have a few concerns about Q and his health, and how long he can remain productive with his physical style of play. I am not in anyway questioning the football player that Q is now.

When all is said and done I do think that Q will be a Cardinal. I mentioned the other day that my gut feeling was that we would be traded, and I still feel it is a possibility.

My position is this... If the front office isn't going to step up to the plate and give Q a new deal before his contract expires (and note that I am not at all a FO or Graves hater) then it is better to get something in return for him because he would undoubtedly walk if given the chance. Granted we have a lot of contracts that need to be addressed right now. I just think this situation is going to get worse before it gets better and that concerns me. If the FO isn't going to pay him what he want's then now is the time to get some value for him. That is why I am frustrated that his issue isn't being dealt with now so that we can gauge if the something can be worked out or if it's time to part ways.

I simply want the hatchet buried on the whole thing one way or the other.

You will live to regret that statement, young man...:D

This is from Peter King's Monday March 30 column:

I think I hear and believe what the Cardinals are saying -- and Ken Whisenhunt said it to me again last week, that he is determined to keep Anquan Boldin on his team. But I've seen too many of the guerrilla tactics by agent Drew Rosenhaus to think it's going to go down that way. The Eagles are sitting there at 21 and 28, frothing for a receiver. So is Miami at 25, Baltimore at 26, the Giants at 29 and Tennessee at 30. If the Cards think it's going to be tense with Boldin, with more problems at training camp like last year, they're going to have to think seriously of auctioning Boldin and spending the money on Karlos Dansby long-term.

If it ever made sense to trade someone it is Boldin. He will be trouble from here on out. He wants out of here does not anyone hear him and he is not going to be a very good influence on anyone. Get what you can get. Cut our losses and salary cap and move on down the road. This is becoming a soap. "Days of Boldin"

Well, I hope you're young, as it makes fawning over Walter at least somewhat understandable. ;)

I have disagreed with Mitch 80% of the time. Check any threads where we any sort of dialogue. If he makes points I agree with, then I say I agree. If he makes points I disagree with, then I say I disagree.
