Wouldn't have drafted Jerry Rice either ;)

Some guys play faster than their 40 and based off his highlights and stats he clearly does.
You picked out 2 guys in the history of the NFL, both 1st round draft picks by the way so they had much more natural ability. I guess every QB drafted late should be compared to Brady.

After watching film he has quick step out of the backfield. He is tuff and can break tackles. Knows where the goal line is and can catch. Has some breakaway speed on a few runs for TD's. Time will tell but first year Special teams plus some third down carries.

High hopes for the kid!

Unless the highlight tape was altered, I don't understand how it can be said that he is not fast.

Many guys play faster than their 40 times. He clearly looks to be one of them.

there's a poll, maurice clarett vs lawrence phillips. clarett could probably drink more but i bet phillips could kick his butt. anyway, great pick with Tayor.

If we just drafted another Tim Hightower, I will be fine with this pick.

You can't believe your eyes. He was slow at the combine and as everyone knows, NFL teams only use the combine to evaluate players.:sarcasm:

All I'm comparing is 40 times which is really your only complaint. 40 time really dont mean squat if a guy can play he can play. You know as well as anyone that many people play faster with the pads on than they what there 40 time says. The round picked is really irrelevant a 4.7 is a 4.7

On tape he clearly has some wheels IMO and he VERY clearly has some wiggle and moves to him which you were claiming he didn't. That pretty long tape says otherwise.

Actually I had Simon in the 4th round, which is where he went, to the best drafting team in the league.

He can catch the ball and block. Call me crazy but I want a RB that can actually run.

Apparently, you have to like every pick we make.

Because he's playing againt college players. He's not going to run away from NFL defenders. Ted Ginn was as fast as anyone in college and I couldn't believe how pedestrian he looked in the NFL.

Taylor was a very good COLLEGE rb.

I loved the first 3 picks. I'm okay with Okafor, not thrilled, not disappointed. I don't like Taylor but it's not going to ruin what has been a good draft.

Even the first round picks were only playing against college players. How else would you evaluate a college player.

It's called projections, skill, and athletic ability. If not, the leading scorer in college basketball would be the 1st round pick every year and the leading NCAA rusher would be the first RB selected.

CBUS wanted Gillislee.

I love the pick. I was spouting off earlier this year to K9 that I believed Stepfan Taylor would be the most productive RB coming out of the draft this year. He fits what Arians wants out of a RB as he can run inside, outside, pas block and catch the ball. He doesn't fumble and does a lot of little things right. Not the most dynamic RB in this draft, but one of my favorites.

Loved the Watford pick and I love the Stepfan Taylor pick.

Of course you will use those items to evaluate, but I would think how they fared against their competition would factor in even higher. Especially someone like Taylor who has gone up against some very tough defenses.

Taylor is a great fit. He is very intelligent. He can do it all Run/ Block/ Catch. He runs with great pad level.

With the Cardinals most likely airing it out, Taylor will provide protection for Palmer as well as the ability to sneak out into the flat to catch the screen with Cooper leading the way.

Love the pick. I have watched a lot of PAC-10/12 football the last few years and this guy is an absolute favorite of mine. I would be shocked if he does not become a fan favorite in short order. Tough runner inside the tackle, cannot be brought down with an arm tackle. He does have a lot of miles on him, but I think he proved he can run the ball.

Taylor's a 5th round pick. Why are you guys trying to judge him on potential production you would expect out of a 1st or 2nd round RB? If he makes the team the Cards got good value here. All has to do is be better than Alfonso Smith to do that.

By the way Randle is a far superior RB from a pure running standpoint but not an Arians type guy. Great pick by Dallas. Another guy who dropped for no real reason.

Good college back. Will struggle in the pros. No moves and slow. He was a product of Stanford's run game. Alot better backs were available.

Marked for future claim chowder.

This was an OUTSTANDING pick IMHO. One of the true sleepers of the draft. The kid is a baller. If Beanie Wells had heart like this kid, he'd be one of the top backs in the league. He doesn't time fast but he's got "football speed". Makes people miss, runs over tacklers, and is a GREAT pass blocker. Highly intelligent kid too.

Prediction: Taylor gets as many carries as anybody in the backfield this year. Mendenhall could become an afterthought.

Not even close. Ellington, Gillislee, Graham, Randle, the kid from Nevada Jefferson, and maybe Jamieson are all better.

Terrible pick. I was really hoping for Joe Randle, but the other guys you mentioned would be better than this guy.........:mulli:

Taylor is a great 3rd back. He'll play special teams, he'll be a great pass protector on 3rd downs, he'll be more consistent than Powell or Smith in that role.

He's a young Mwelde Moore.

What people who are hating on this pick DONT get (and my guess is they have been too locked up just reading scouting combine results and draft reports rather then watching games) is that he is perfect at that slot for these reasons:

1) Never Fumbles (Problem for Mendenhall and Williams)
2) AMAZING at Pass Pro which is HUGE for Arians (Which will make him 3rd down back IMO)
3) Ultra Durable - which again is HUGE with Mendenhall and Williams on roster

Trust me on this. Speed means nothing for this type of back. Yeah his 40 is terrible but he is smart, big, with good hips, as well as the above mentioned traits.

Love this pick Future Jerome Bettis IMO if he gets in Lotts strength program

Yup. All I think he has a higher ceiling them Mwelde Moore. His production is nothign to scoff at despite his measurables.

Agree with this too. The draft is a combination of production and measurables. All the guys Cbus listed either didnt do it like Taylor did or are work out guys. Thus guy is good ol fashioned football player.
