PHOENIX -- Crack the door, and these days the Arizona Diamondbacks will blow right through.
Three times in their last four games, Arizona has made an opponent pay and pay and pay for a blunder here or a miscue there.
Pittsburgh Pirates[/a] at Chase Field. The game was not decided until Jon Jay's three-run homer in the seventh inning, but the decisive first inning helped them build an 8-0 lead.

Monday, meet Tuesday.
In another bizarre game characterized by bad fielding and poor pitching — this time, by both starters and relievers — the Pirates lost to the Diamondbacks, 13-8, at Chase Field. The game was defined for the Pirates by an ugly first inning in which they committed three errors, including two on one play, and allowed the Diamondbacks to take a commanding 6-0 lead.
The Pirates (32-35) dropped their eighth straight series and have now lost 18 of their last 24 games.
wasn't much of that going on when he was hitting under .200 and left in the 3 hole for 2 months thoughI love that Goldschmidt is batting 2nd. Some of that "analytics" stuff going on I'd assume.

The Diamondbacks couldn’t buy runs in May. Suddenly, they’re coming by the boatload.
Paced by a three-hit, three-RBI performance from outfielder Jon Jay, the Diamondbacks scored a season-high 13 runs in a 13-8 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday at Chase Field.
The Diamondbacks have scored 51 runs in their past five games, all wins. They scored a total of 76 in May, a total of 27 games compared to the 11 games the club has played thus far in June.

he was hitting .209 in march/april/may and left in the 3 hole the entire time. when lovullo finally moved him down in the order he moved him all the way down to 4th, where he was even worse. i doubt any analytics gave reason for him to be batting that high. he finally turned it around, but you have to wonder how many games were lost due to his offensive black hole in the heart of the orderWhat do you mean?
