Per Urban today:
Palmer said he was “mentally, never close” to retiring this offseason. It was about his body recovering, which is why he said he can never know if a season will be his last until February and March of the following year.

His body bounced back this year.

I am not interested in banning him unless the trolling continues. I kind of like the new system where I can warn a poster a couple of times before giving them a break.

I'm not pushing for a ban here, but @Jetstream Green called this guy out in another thread, and if you Google "robert ethan gabbert," it spills over with comments on other forums and comment sections for all of the teams he's been on since 2011. Given the multiple uses of "Fitzpatrick" in his posts, and the outside stuff that matches up, this guy is either Blaine himself, or is trying to stir something up.

I mean, I'm cool with that, even though I don't post much. The board gave THESMEL a hard time over his love for Leinart. I forget the poster, but someone once wrote quite the goodbye letter to Jake Plummer. I own a Drew Stanton jersey.

But can we make fun of him at least?

But THESMEL is a Cardinal fan :)

I have no problem being made fun of, but Gabbert is still ahead of Dysert on the depth chart,

We had a guy, Mokler man, who came here with warner and I believe left when warner left. I dont see any reason to ban someone for following their favorite player online and discussing their abilities and the fans hopes for that player.

I mean, is him touting Gabbert and discussing his abilities really that big of a bother for everyone? We do have ignore buttons that people can use if they get tired of hearing about Gabbert?

I just find it funny that people throw the ban word around so much

No I agree with you, there is no reason to ban the dude for his BG banter. Taunting a MOD???? Well that's another thing.

HTHSIK?

(stands for "How the hell should I know)?

Two star players both playing the back nines of their careers & one step away from AARP membership.

Some old players are physical freaks. Others have made a science of getting every ounce of production out of their bodies.

Then there's the issue of pain (its presence and the tolerance thereof). And opportunities that may exist outside of football. And the influence of family members.

So like I said: HTHSIK?

I'm not a big fan of banning, and must admit to shaking my head in bewilderment as I watch the back and forth between robert ethan and several folks on this bb. Forgive me, therefore, for not putting together a cogent argument pro or con and, instead, just jot down some random observations.

No, I don't think of robert ethan as a troll.

But his reference to BA as "your coach" suggests he isn't a Cardinal fan either.

That doesn't mean he shouldn't have the right to state his opinions.

...Or for us to call him out when we disagree.

The heat level on this board has increased markedly of late (Referring to BG as 'garbage" and other denigrating terms is not helpful).

The level of certainty expressed by some posters is occasionally off-the-charts. Too often, we let the loudness and passion of our debate trump the facts. And we leave no room to concede that the other guy might just have a valid point.

Two bones I have to pick with robert ethan are (1) his almost blind devotion about Gabbert and (2) overreliance on workout stats, Wunderlic scores etc. to evaluate players.

But that doesn't mean we should ban him.

I voted fitz only because to me he's got a lot left in the tank imo. The more I think about it though, I'm not sure. No way he plays with the rookie QB carousel again

Depends on the QB. IMO he stays we wont do the swag thing again.

There was never a doubt in my mind that Palmer was coming back, and I felt his consideration of retirement pretty disingenuous. I also surmise that the chances of Palmer coming back for 2018 if the team doesnt win the Super Bowl is about 50%.

Larry Fitzgerald knows the questions about his playing future are coming, but the veteran Cardinals wide receiver doesn't plan on answering them all season long, like he had to last year.
Fitzgerald said Monday night at an Arians Family Foundation charity dinner that he will address his playing future once, in training camp, and that's it.
"I'm going to answer it one time, and I'm not even going to address it anymore," Fitzgerald said.
