I want Joe Thomas but I doubt if he will be there. I think Detroit will take him with the second pick.

I'm dead set against Joe Thomas. Taking an OT with a top pick when they didn't really need one was how we got Leonard Davis.

I voted for Thomas but what about that Oyoke (sp) kid from Louisville? Is he a reach at 5?

Alan Branch all the way. Branch is the type of guy that can clog up the middle and help stop the run. That will free up our LBs to attack the opposing RBs unblocked.

Plus having Branch and Watson in short yardage situations would be like having the Great Wall of China set up on the goal line.

I think a very good case can be made for all of them (save maybe Ginn).

I think Peterson is too good to pass up. JMHO.

With a BPA ideal, if he's available that would be the most prudent option!

How does an overrated son of gun like Ted Ginn get to be on this poll, but Reggie Nelson doesn't!?!

I dont understand the folks calling for Alan Branch... DT is one of the only positions on D where we actually have some depth...

Dockett, Clancy, Watson, Lewis... those are quality players..

For me the draft board goes:

1) Joe Thomas
2) Adrian Peterson
3) Jamaal Anderson
4) Reggie Nelson
5) Alan Branch

2nd that.

Thomas, IMO, will be gone by #5 and I want us to take either Anderson or Nelson. Nelson is and will shoot further up draft boards and will be worth the #5 pick. Nelson would do wonders for this D, as would Anderson

Joe Thomas and this isn't even a contest; honestly no other players would even enter my mind. Sure Leonard Davis might've gotten a little better towards the end of the season, but he'll never be a great LT and isn't the longterm solution at that position. Offensive linemen are traditionally one of the safest first round picks, and Joe Thomas with his long and lean frame, great feet and quickness is the prototypical LT. If Thomas is still there at number five and we pass on him, it will go down as one of the worst draft decisions of all time.

This is the most hyperbolic comment of all time...ever...in the history of human thought. :D

I agree. I doubt thomas will be there at 5, i think either detroit or cleveland will take him, so if he's not there i believe branch can help us more than anyone else.
Furthermore what sense does it really make to draft peterson? We are not good enough yet to have two great guys (not to mention that type of money) tied up in one position, there are to many other spots that can be upgraded imo

i think branch can really help. puting him into rotation w/ gabe watson, clancy and dockett and having okeafor and berry on the ends would give us the best d-line in the west.... maybe better? please give me some feedback here to let me know if i am nuts

i like nelson too, but i think this needs to be the year when rolle goes to free safety and we grab another couple corners (samuels/clement, laron landry/leon hall) via free agency and/or the draft. that would give us one hell of a secondary.

The Ginn love is hysterical. I can't wait to hear the crickets chirp around here when all those who have man crushes on Ginn find out he sucks in the NFL.
