Why? The rebuild goes nowhere with Kyler anyway, so at least try to get something for him while you can.
Because getting 7-9 wins has value for an awful franchise. The Cards need to win games and add talent. I would rather stack the roster and then make a leap for a QB I actually want while also winning some games vs bottling out again. It’s good for this franchise to be a mid team that gets Monti and Gamnon extensions. Now, if a good QB option falls into the Cardinals laps this offseason, sure, make the move. I just don’t see how that happens.

God, that is a poverty franchise mentality, man. You want us to be just average enough to get them extensions? No thanks. If they can't get us to the playoffs and deep into the playoffs, no freaking extensions should be on offer.

Kyler isn't taking us anywhere. The more we stick with him, the lower our chances get to do anything significant as a team. I very much hope our goal isn't to be a middling nothing of a team for a few years in the hopes that, what, that leads to an ability to get a good QB?

I'm sorry, but nothing you say here makes sense to me. Good QB options don't fall into teams' laps, by and large. Teams go out and get them.

Kind of does.

Cause you were technically wrong.

But this is the same response I would’ve had if I knew I was wrong, too.
So your okay with one ore two good performances every 10 games. You go right ahead and enjoy.
So sorry, not wrong. It doesn’t change a thing. Hope you have that game recorded so you can watch it over and over during the off season.

Stout, we are stuck supporting a team that repeats stupid decisions and then supports the stupid decision.

I laughed when the Broncos traded for Wilson. Then I laughed when they moved on from Wilson and getting stuck with his cap hit. But they did.

Now they got a young QB and winning. So this BS about “ can’t do anything because of his contract” is a fallacy.

They will not move off Kyler. They will continue to try and convince us they are on the right track. All we can do is watch.

So for the delusional idiots like me who are used to being abused and beaten-up year after year yet still cling to playoff hopes, we root for the Niners this week, correct?
We’re in such an awful position. If you are committed to the idea that our only realistic path to the division is to get to 10 wins, then you actually want to root for the Rams. If we win out, the Rams cannot win the West (with their presumed loss to us in Week 17, the best they could do is 10-7). Having them at exactly 10-7, however, may end up being critical to saving us if Seattle also finishes 10-7. If it’s just Seattle and Arizona at 10-7, Seahawks win the West. If it is a three-way tie, the Cardinals win the West, Rams are #2 and the Seahawks are #3.

If you’re hoping for a path to the division at 9-8, then it’s a bit more murky as to the possibilities. The Rams can help us (see above) or the Rams can overtake us. If you figure they will beat the Jets and also need to beat the Seahawks, then we would need them to lose to SF to finish 9-8.

A tie this Thursday between LA and SF is actually a pretty bad outcome for us in almost all scenarios.

My advice: don’t watch this Thursday. Whatever you root for will happen and end up being our downfall.

The Cardinals organization needs stability at GM and HC. To this point, I don’t believe Monti nor Gannon are incompetent. I need a roster that can compete for success. I can suffer an Alex Smith or Andy Dalton for another season to win 7-9 games and avoid more franchise churn.

the idea that sticking with Kyler for one more season after we likely double our win total being a poverty franchise mindset is hilarious. People on here thinking this roster is close is funny. And don’t pretend you don’t know EXACTLY how I feel about Kyler. I was the person on here who got roasted for my pre-draft views of him. Moving on from Kyler without a viable QB is far worse than keeping him one more year.

Uh, we need to win two more games to double our win total. That is not even close to a lock. Also doubling a 4-win season isn't exactly lighting the league on fire in year 2 of a "rebuild."

Not to be a dick, but you are smarter than this. The roster got shredded. Yes, it was Monti's choice (which I am on this board with many posts disagreeing with it), but it is still a fact. Getting 7 or 8 wins after a year of getting 4 wins is progress, even if it isn't where we want to be. Pats are bad. Panthers are bad. Division games are always tough. 0-4 might change the dynamic, but I don't think either of us think that is likely. Again, Kyler is bad under pressure vs good teams...not every opponent fits that.

If Cam Ward falls in round 1...maybe that is different. If you want to try to develop Drew Allar as a round 3 pick...whatever. Hell, I don't care if you bring in Daniel Jones to compete with Murray. But every one of those scenarios also has Kyler on the roster in 2025.

Just to repeat I don't think it matters because I don't trust us but don't just assume Seattle won't have more than 7 losses. They get lucky in playing GB and Minnesota in Seattle, we had to play both on the road, but they could easily lose both of those games.

They will beat the Bears but I won't be at all surprised if they lose to the Rams the last game of the season.

So Seattle loses 3 of 4 they finish 9-8. The Rams lose 2 of 4 finish 9-8. We win out we win the division. But again I don't think we're going to win out

Considering the talent level at the start of the rebuild, I kind of think it actually is.

Thanks for all you do, Doc. I appreciate all the work you put into these threads every year. So many twists and turns. But hey we're not eliminated yet.

There was plenty of talent at the start of the rebuild; Monti just decided to let it leave or release it. That winning culture campaign is paying off bigly.
Exactly. How much better is this defense with Zach Allen, Byron Murphy and Will Anderson Jr?

We let two of those guys walk out the door… or failed to bring them back and just straight up passed on a pass rushing beast.

There are reasons this team isn’t further along… and it’s because of some of the terrible personnel choices they made in year 1 when they decided to punt on an entire season.

If it were me I'd grab Allar...but I'd trade back into the 2nd...already see mocks with him going well before our round 3.
I think the kid has something.
But also, he is everything Kyler isnt..dude is a prototype. If having that guy as your backup doesn't light a fire under kylers ass nothing will.
Give Allar the Green Bay treatment and make him watch and learn...at least for 25...then reevaluate.
With petzings offense I would guess that 6'5. 240 is more his flavor QB

Don’t we already have this in Clayton Tune?
