The next couple of months will be interesting as several WWE contracts are due to expire.

On Saturday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Jim Valley asked Dave Meltzer if he’s heard of any big names returning for WrestleMania. Edge’s name has been rumored but Edge has claimed that he is not cleared. Hulk Hogan has been pushing for a WrestleMania match and he’s been training to get in shape in hopes of getting cleared. In response to Valley’s question, Meltzer said, “I’ve heard more about people who are probably coming to AEW.” He added, “There’s rumors about Matt Hardy. Again, his contract is up in a couple of months. I think that he’s doing Broken Matt Hardy segments so whether it’s Impact or Ring Of Honor or AEW…in that situation if you’re trying to be high profile then AEW is your best bet. I would think that he might end up there.”

As previously noted, AEW will be honoring several Memphis wrestling legends on Tuesday night at AEW Dynamite in Southaven, MS.

Dave Meltzer is reporting that legendary Memphis wrestling announcer Dave Brown will be calling the action on AEW Dark and Excalibur will be doing his best to try to call the action like the late Lance Russell would have.

Meltzer noted that Doug Gilbert will be appearing to honor Tommy and Eddie Gilbert. Shane Russell, Lance’s son, will be there to honor his father.

WWE Hall of Famer Booker T addressed whether he will be wrestling in a cross-generation match at WWE’s next pay-per-view event.

Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder of The Revival confronted Booker T during the Kickoff Show for WWE’s TLC pay-per-view.

Later that night, there was an exchange of words between Stevie Ray and Dawson on Twitter. Ultimately, this led to a challenge of a match between the two tag teams at the Royal Rumble event was issued.

Paige returns to WWE Backstage this week and there is a lot of speculation on what is next for her career.

On Twitter, she’s been teasing something big coming up soon. There’s no word on what she has planned by many have been speculating, including PWInsider, that she could be returning to the ring as part of the Women’s Royal Rumble match.

That would be a great way to give her a big moment since she never had real closure to her in-ring career due to her neck issues.

It appears that Ruby Riott is getting closer to making her return to in-ring action.

Pwinsider.com reported on Tuesday that Riott was spotted this morning at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.

It was revealed last May that Riott underwent successful surgery of a “bilateral injury” to her right shoulder.

One of the names that has been speculated online for Mania has been Edge. PWInsider noted that Edge has been seen at WWE events in recent weeks and I was told that Edge’s name has been rumored among people backstage for an in-ring return and people who have seen him have said that he’s in great shape and he looks like he’s ready to wrestle again.

However, Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that if Edge is indeed wrestling at Mania that it won’t be against Lesnar. This was during a discussion on potential names in the company and outsiders who could be in consideration for the match.

Meltzer said, “Now that I remember certain things that I’ve been told, it couldn’t be Edge. I was told flat out Edge was not wrestling Brock Lesnar, not at the Royal Rumble and not at WrestleMania.”

WWE has signed another star to a contract.

Dave Meltzer has confirmed that Mercedes Martinez is headed to the company after inking a deal. SoCalUncensored first reported the news. Per the report, she is slated to travel to Orlando, Florida to start training at the WWE Performance Center later this month.

Martinez started in the pro wrestling business back in November of 2000 where she has a following in the independent women’s wrestling scene.
