Coach Ken Whisenhunt spoke for the first time after Anquan Boldin's comments yesterday:

"Nothing has really changed," Whisenhunt said. "You (media) have been at practice every day. We've been communicating. If communicating is talking, that's what we have been doing at practice. As we go forward, I don't know. I don't foresee anything changing. If it does, it's in his court. To me, it's not really an issue. Nothing has changed from a few weeks ago. I feel the exact same way about Anquan, he is a good football player, the Cardinals have extended his contract once, tried to do it again, and our intent is to do it (again) the first chance we get."

Whisenhunt noted that multiple players have talked through the media in an effort to get new contracts. "It certainly is not out of place. I understand the frustration. It doesn't change the fact we are excited about our football team, we are excited about the progress we are making, and we are looking forward to the season. There are a lot of guys that are counting on Anquan, because he is a good football player."

Whisenhunt said he had not yet talked to Boldin on the subject but he did talk to Anquan yesterday about football.

"Our position hasn't changed," Whisenhunt added. "We fully intend to (revisit the contract). We had the issue everyone knows about with Larry and that certainly affected our cap. We are trying to build a team that will be successful for years to come. In order to do that, you have to be smart about the cap."

LOL. Word. So funny in hindsight.

The Almighty Q 'wagon =:titanic:

Hah.. The Q Wagon crashed quicker than Enron.

Don't matter to me.. At the end of the day, if he sticks around, Boldin will be enshrined in the Arizona Cardinal Ring of Honor while Fitzgerald is enshrined in Canton on top of that.

I'm betting the source of that "rumor" is his agent. They're trying to get a new contract or a trade, the standard reply is we're not trading him, he has a contract.

The next logical step is to leak that you might walk out of camp and possibly not honor your contract.

"sources"...always the scapegoat for wild speculation.

Trade him to Cincy for Chad Johnson...:ducksforcover:

you have to get a first round pick for boldin. Litto Sheppard & a First for Boldin. That is the only way this deal can take place.

You want to trade a guy who's been a mild pain in the ass for one who's a PERPETUAL pain in the ass?

Isn't that sorta like taking a sledghammer to the nads in order to cure a headache?

I love Boldin but I would take Shawn Andrews of the Eagles and a case of beer for him if we have to trade him.

Not for me.

They'd get a Pro Bowl caliber CB, who's got about 4 years before he reaches his prime (IMO) and a 3rd that could turn in to a second. I don't know if the Cards are going to do too much better than that. If Philly's sweetening the pot, perhaps they can throw Giles or Justice into the deal and turn the pick in to a flat 3rd.

Perhaps a straight swap for Suggs might be better?

If you trade for Lito, you are trading problem (money) for problem (money). Lito wants to be "showed the money" also. No way I get him involved in a deal.

Q's only path to the contract he wants is a productive 2008 season.

Remember -- "injury" problems, locker room problems, etc -- all of those impact the value Boldin might get from a new team --

if this issue remains after the season (i.e. no extension / kiss an make up) -- trade him then.

How about

Steve Smith for Q and a 3rd? I doubt they'd go Smith for Q straight-up.

And then you'd have to start Warner just to see how many yards he could get with 2 burners (Smith and Breaston) and a human vacuum cleaner (Fitz).

Ditto on Chad Johnson.

Despite our belief that Q walks on water, I don't think he has the value that Smith or Johnson have. Maybe I'm wrong..........

I hope somehow it all works out and Q stays with us on our way to the big game. I will never forget his first game, or his hands catching, the body moving, and running to daylight. I know he is doing this now because, a football career is not very secure. The good ones want to get what they think they are worth now because tomorro they are gone.

IMO this only makes the talking sports heads happy. So they wont let go till there is some kind of resolve.
