Lesson to message board poster, Elway just hoisted his 3rd SB trophy and first as an executive. He MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY know a little bit about what he's doing.

I watched Osweiler. IMO, He will never be a star. Serviceable starter at best.

Serviceable starter - which is a lot more than Denver has got right now.

1st as a GM... Player ones don't count in this debate... Many GMs have won SBs and the subsequently crashed and burned...

Houston just purchased a newer Honda Civic to replace an older Honda Civic. Brock is barely a top 20 QB in this league, and they are paying him 18mil. Elway will come out of this looking like a genius.

This just crazy the amount of money he received for playing maybe 10 games in total. Heard even the Broncos offered 16 mill a year and he turned it down.

Time to draft a new QB, and maybe get someone to start for a couple years. Denver sucked at QB anyway. Defense won the trophy. Manning just rode along. I agree that Osweiller is OK but will not ever be a marquee QB. Time for us to draft a QB too. We have an old veteran and Stanton. Got to plan for the future.

Yeah, like I said earlier, Osweiller is not much of an upgrade over Hoyer. The question is: is Brock $14 mil/year better than Hoyer?

If your team is predicated on defense and running the ball, and all you need is a game manager, $18 mil is too much coin, particularly since Deandre Hopkins is entering his contract year and he's going to command huge money.

If Houston went back to Hoyer they would've lost the team before training camp. Too bad Bradford didn't hold off for another week.

They made the playoffs because of the god-awful division they played in, so let's not pretend they earned that spot. They were atrocious in their home playoff game. This is insane money for a guy that's started 7 games, and they were pretty mediocre games while having a ridiculously good defense.

Exactly.

I don't buy these arguments. They didn't quit prior to last year and their QB situation was even more grim than it would have been going into next year with Hoyer. And even if that line of thinking did have some merit, desperation overpays like this merely tend to accelerate the process, such as the Kolb trade, which was the defining move in the death of the Whiz/Graves era. Giving a mediocre guy a ton of money in order to save face and look like you're trying hard only makes you look that much worse once the team takes the field.
