Question for Cardinals Fans...

Too many times, the media always focuses on the big names of any franchise, and there are many players that have played that were Pretty Damn Good in their own right.. So the question is:

Who is a former Cardinals player that you want fans of other teams to know about?

I plan to do a show called "The Hall of Very Good" which will include a team by team pick of "Who You Should Know About"

Roy Green and Neil Lomax. Short careers due to injury out for Lomax and Green started his career as a DB, but during the early 80s they were as good a duo as there was.

Roy "Jetstream" Green!!! A small school DB who went on to become a bona-fide stud at WR. During the mid '80's Green was considered the best WR in the NFL ask John Madden.

wow that is a hard question to answer for a long time Card fan. So many really good but not great players. Just some names that come to mind. Ernie McMillan tackle, Otis Anderson rb , Tom Banks center, EJ Junior linebacker, Sonny Randle wide receiver, Pat Fischer db., Conrad Dobler guard, Jim Bakken, and Eric Swann. And who could forget the best 17th round draft pick the Cardinals ever had... Larry Stallings.

Aeneas Williams and Eric Swann, without doubt! Williams is HOF worthy and Swann would have been with a longer career.

Larry Centers? Really? Ugh, 8 yards a catch overrrated player on bad football teams. There was no way he should have been the focus of the offense--but gutless Qbs and bad offenses helped him pad his stats.

ah...the memories!!! BTW you did forget the greatest Cardinal ever...Larry Wilson. He is Mr Cardinal, over 40 years of service to the team as a player & decision maker.

Larry doesn't meet the qualifications since he is in the Hall of Fame.

I'd nominate Tootie Robbins (10 years at RT for the Cards and Bobby Joe Conrad PK turned RB turned All-Pro WR. Combined with Sonny Randle, Charley Johnson and Jackie Smith to put together a stretch in the Mid-sixties where the Cards won 9 of 14 games three times in 6 seasons.

I always hate threads like this because it shows just how awful the Cards were their first 20 years in Arizona. Just look at how most of the names mentioned are guys that came from St.Louis.

Most fans know about Aeneas I would think.

Eric Swann and Larry Centers, EJ Junior and Eric Hill are about the only guys even us die hard fans can come up with.

Most of the other guys like Ken Harvey, Jay Novacek, Tim McDonald, Garrison Hearst and Thomas Jones all gained recognition playing somewhere else.

Lomas Brown-----a very solid Left Tackle on a not so good O-Line.

Rob Moore-----a gifted and hard working WR who could go past you or go up for the ball, and almost always caught it while going down.

Ronald McKinnon------and undersized (5'10") middle linebacker who could thump a running back coming up the middle, or cover a tight end down the crease, and did so, very well for about 10 years.

Otis Anderson-----he could light it up on the ground.

Terry Metcalf-----maybe the best all-purpose back ever to play.

I would go with Eric Swann.

Injuries ruined his career, but he was dominate. According to one of our resident NFL experts (Harry), opposing offensive lineman took many cheapshots on him early in his career because he was so unstoppable.

He went to a few Pro Bowls in his career, and IMO was the best defensive tackle I've ever seen. Swann was not a big fat ass as a 300 lbs., he was a mountain of muscle and had amazing speed and quickness for a man his size. He never received the credit he deserved, and will go down in Cardinals history as our most dominate lineman.

Ottis Anderson, who should be in the HOF and doesn't even make the cut but Leroy Kelly gets in .

An obscure guy, nationally, i think is Eric Hill. He's probably the Cards best LB.

Another guy, who people hate, but was pretty darn good for the Cards is Simeon Rice.
