missing a 55 yarder isnt choking

Its the equivalent of taking a three pointer to win a basketball game and missing --

had that been a 40 yarder -- I would absolutely agree with you

Well, he's missed those 40 yarders with the game on the line also - KC & Chicago!! The guy is killing us & it's so obvious.

So basically guys that 32 NFL teams have deemed not talented enough to sign?
It's not just physical talent that you're looking for. Hell, Neil has a ton of that. What he doesn't have is the intestinal fortitude, mental make-up, call it whatever you want to come up big when the game is on the line. If there's a position that's a crap shoot for 32 NFL teams, its the KICKER position.

I asm sorry, but Rackers just doesnt have it in him. I would consider keeping him on as a kickoff specialist, but he just isn't an NFL caliber kicker, plain and simple. He isn't average. he has already missed like 4-5 kicks this year. Kickers dont have to do a lot, but they need to be good at what they do. You guys saying there is no one better are just kidding yourselves.

You don't quite get it. With one swing of his leg, Rackers eliminates ALL those other mistakes. It's not easy being a kicker & it takes a special breed. Rackers is not that breed of kicker. The above mistakes will always happen to some extent in a football game, but the kicker is untouched & MUST convert in the clutch if that team is going to be successful. Position players don't always respect kickers, especially those that go unscathed & let them down. These guys are physically killing themselves to win & they will lose that desire to put their bodies on the line when a guy with a clean uniform chokes every week.

Ok, so I don't get it. We lost the game because of Rackers. Eventhough it was Rackers HIMSELF that put our team in position to win the game.

Your entitle to call it what you want, but I call, it motivating someone. A lot of teams do it.

I'm sure the Redskins are looking for a new kicker right now because thiers missed a 40 yarder that allowed the Cardinals a chance at wining the game.

The fact of the matter is that there are no other Kickers out there right now and Rackers is our guy for the rest of the season. Get over it!

Here is a comparison between Rackers and the rest of the league (at 50+), since he has been a Cardinal.

Code:
		Att	Made	%
2007	League	33	14	42.4%
2007	Rackers	6	3	50.0%
2006	League	78	39	50.0%
2006	Rackers	7	1	14.3%
2005	League	85	41	48.2%
2005	Rackers	7	6	85.7%
2004	League	81	43	53.1%
2004	Rackers	9	5	55.6%
2003	League	93	45	48.4%
2003	Rackers	0	0	0.0%

	Total	370	182	49.2%
	Total	29	15	51.7%

Again, if there are so many kickers out there that are available and better, give me some names.

PA, lets put it this way. How about you create a thread for Warner, because of his 3 turnovers. If we don't have any of those, we probably win.

Dockett gets a thread too, because his penalty kept a drive alive that caused a score.

Special teams gets one, because they allowed an 80 yard kickoff, etc.

You just aren't looking at the bigger picture.

I don't want to cut Rackers but I think Warner is a different thing entirely. Kurt turns the ball over for sure but he's playing one handed and both those TD passes to Boldin were plays where an old guy who can't move around did just that to buy time and find the open guy. for all his bad plays, and there were many, Warner made some very good plays that contributed to us being
in this game.

I think Warner turns it over too much but he's also hurt so I cut him some slack right or wrong.
I also take into account Matt is out and I don't want to see too much of Rattay or Hasselbeck.

Rackers made an extra point, made a nice onside kick, but when we needed him most, once again wide left.

Oh stop it abomd. Don't you know that a 55 yarder is a chip shot? My one legged uncle could kick one and I do have a one legged uncle.

He's missed 5 this season. 3 of which, are from over 50 yards. So he's 7 of 9 inside 50 and 3 of 6 beyond 50.

Oh yeah, I forgot. Also, all the replacements PACardsFan has failed to mentioned can kick them with their legs tied together.

Watch this guy on the sideline. I was there yesterday & watched him pace up & down the sideline all day. My daughter-in-law said the same thing. The guy is a nervous wreck. I don't like to see that in my kicker, especially when the game is on the line. Most everyone else seems to be Ok with it though, so let's keep losing games we should win. And the beat goes on.

And when he was doing the same exact thing two years ago while making kicks, that was called him being hyped up and intense.

That remark is almost laughable. Kickers almost always pop out of the woodwork. Tell me something bud, how many kickers in the NFL today do you think were drafted by their current teams or were signed directly after finishing college? Hold on, heres an example: the best punter I have seen this year is that rugby player for the Eagles. How many teams have been pursuing him in years past? There are 1000s of kickers out there dieing for a shot. Why not go get a soccer player from somewhere? Kickers in the NFL make more than guys in the MLS.

Yeah, it's done all the time IN TRAINING CAMP.

Who do you suggest we cut to bring in this second kicker to compete with Rackers?

Since when does a punter kick field goals?

Competition? If there were better competition out there, they would be on another team already. If you want to bring someone off of the street, and expect them to do better than Rackers has done thus far, you are kidding yourself.

So you knew the name of more than 5 kickers in the NFL before they made it in the NFL? You right, I remember you talking about Gostkowski last year and Nick Folk in the offseason.

That just not true. THere have been many coaches that bring in kicks to audition during the season. You might even see it this week in Washington.

You need to go back and read my first post. I said bring them in for a tryout (not signing). Just to make NR think about it. Just for the record I dont believe there is anyone out there that is better.

Gostkowski is on the Patriots and Folk was drafted by Dallas.

Both of those guys were drafted in the April draft. This is October.

Have you any names for today?
