Gostkowski is on the Patriots and Folk was drafted by Dallas.

Both of those guys were drafted in the April draft. This is October.

Have you any names for today?

I'm sure Dallas is gonna cut Folk any day now...he missed one yesterday.

That just not true. THere have been many coaches that bring in kicks to audition during the season. You might even see it this week in Washington.

It happens on occasion (dallas did it a few years ago) but it doesn't happen "all the time."

And bringing someone in for an "audition" or a workout is most definitely NOT the same thing as bringing in someone for competition with Rackers. That would mean carrying two kickers and cutting a player.

Workout as many kickers as you like...I doubt they will though as it doesn't seem to be a problem. It was a 55 yarder...it missed by a foot.

Competition? If there were better competition out there, they would be on another team already. If you want to bring someone off of the street, and expect them to do better than Rackers has done thus far, you are kidding yourself.

It happens every year. NFL kickers get cut all the time for choking and get replaced by some guy who couldn't make another NFL team. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I'm not saying cut Rackers but saying if anybody was better they'd already be employe is just not backed up by the history of NFL kickers.

Rackers has done enough to keep the job but if he misses the next crucial kick don't be surprised to see open auditions. I wouldn't be surprised to see us bring in kickers during the bye week. If Pittsburgh's kicker when whiz was there was available, he's not, we'd probably bring him in.

You can roll your eyes all you want, cuz your just showing your :moon: I never said there were any better out there, I just said I wanted to bring in COMPETION, is that so hard for you to understand??? It's done all the time but I guess coaches that are paid millions just dont get but it...But you do...

I'm sorry but if Whiz brought in a nobody as competition for Rackers half way through the season he should be fired. You are kidding yourself if you think that bringing anyone in would change anything at this point in the season. If you think Rackers is bad. Just wait and see what you get from a FA kicker picked up mid season.

He'll make em when there is no money on the table. But he has the reputation of being a choker.

The Seattle game had plenty of money on the table. He hit a 52 yarder to tie and a 41 yarder to win.

NFL Kickers will not make every 50 yarder they try...they will hit on half of them. Rackers hits on half of his.

That is what I said in my first post. I never said sign another kicker and cut someone. You guys need to go back and read all the post before you run to the aid of your buddies.

You don't quite get it. With one swing of his leg, Rackers eliminates ALL those other mistakes. It's not easy being a kicker & it takes a special breed. Rackers is not that breed of kicker. The above mistakes will always happen to some extent in a football game, but the kicker is untouched & MUST convert in the clutch if that team is going to be successful. Position players don't always respect kickers, especially those that go unscathed & let them down. These guys are physically killing themselves to win & they will lose that desire to put their bodies on the line when a guy with a clean uniform chokes every week.
True--with one swing of his leg, Rackers could have been the hero. But NOT being the hero does not automatically make him the goat. These two labels don't go hand in hand. When he missed the kick, he failed to be the hero. It doesn't mean he lost the game for us. The TEAM lost the game. He just wasn't the hero.

When Parcells cut Vanderjact for blowing games he was wrong. You guys are so smart. You know much more than him. Who cares if the field goal kicker's sole job is to have ice-cold veins and perform in the clutch and ours just doesn't. All of you still jocking Rackers for his '05 season please telll me something. How many games did he win. We sucked and he made a bunch of meaningless kicks. You're right, what a hero.

Eggzactly!

Or didnt execute the onside kick. Or Rattay didnt throw the TD.

Rackers missing a 55 yarder didnt lose the game.

I seem to recall us bringing in Jacke to replace Butler and that worked out pretty well?

Depends who's out there but I wouldn't be at all surprised if we work kickers out during the bye week.

Uhhhhh...Parcells NEVER cut Vinetiari...In fact, Adam never played for Parcells after Parcells left the Pats.

That the problem he doesn't make half of they when they count. And I am not just talkin about 50 yarders. He missed last year against Chicago from 41.

So because they were "meaningless" kicks they somehow mean less? According to you, he was doing his JOB. But it doesn't count when it doesn't win the game??? Your whole post makes no sense whatsoever to me, sorry.

There was really a wealth of talent available at QB, I am sure the same is true of FA kickers.

Russ I normally agree with you but you are way off on this one. I'd like to see some examples of great kickers just coming out of nowhere on a regular basis.

If the Cardinals bring in another kicker this week I would be beyond shocked.

And here, some people won't allow us to bring up the good from years past, and others still focus on the bad. All you Rackers haters need to get together & decide if previous years count or not.
