That and UCLA now has the best recruiting staff in the Pac-12.

Until someone else hires them away. Crazy year.

Jordan Payton verballed to USc before his junior year. Then at the US army game this year he verbals to Cal. Then UW hires 2 Cal recruiters so tues night Payton verbals to UW. And then today he signs an NLI with... UCLA. And UCLA people say he's been a "silent verbal" for more than a week now they were totally surprised when he verballed to UW last night on national tv.

But he picked UCLA so they must have a good staff.

Klemm, Broussard and Yarber are going to own SoCal next year. It's not even going to be close, I think.

I think UW has the best recruiting staff, they poached Cal's top guy and they got Wilcox from UT who was considered a pretty good recruiter.

UW has improved itself, but the guys UCLA brought in were superstars and already very well connected in SoCal.

UCLA strikes again, 4* OT Kenny Lacy (Phoenix Mountain Pointe) commits after visiting this weekend. Other AZ kids visiting UCLA this weekend, RB Jalen Ortiz (Peoria Centennial) & S Priest Willis (Tempe Marcos De Niza).

So much for keeping AZ kids in state.

Here's hoping that if Graham keeps the hot start rolling and pulls off some upsets these local kids will consider staying home. Graham has shown the willingness to give big minutes to Freshman if they're talented enough. Priest Willis especially could likely have all the playing time he wants, hope he stays home.

He never gave the Arizona schools a chance. Kid was leaving the state in one direction or another. Chose UCLA and was recruited by their star recruiter, Adrian Klemm. Beat Arkansas, Nebraska, California and Oklahoma, the other schools on his visit list.

Yah I suppose you'll always have some of them, heck I was one, I wanted to go away and then come back after college.

Someone on the ASU Scout board has been posting on and on about how ASU will never be able to keep top O-lineman talent home because they're fat guys, who have played their whole lives in the AZ heat and want to stop being in the heat. Of course this discounts the 'homeboys' from the 87 Rose Bowl squad, but I do wonder if there's some very small sliver of truth to that for a lot of these kids.

Found this on Doug Haller's twitter feed, via Richard Obert:

Five-star recruit Priest Willis won't go to Michigan-Notre Dame game Saturday, will likely go to Arizona State-Utah game.

He's getting his Under Arm(our) award this week, so he's staying in town. Or so I've heard.

Looks like we are picking up a 3 star cornerback out of Mesquite Texas per Azcentral.com. Nice to see the Texas connections of Graham working.

Looks like Centennial DE Marcus Farria has decomitted from UW, rumors are that he is looking at ASU hard, maybe because grades?

In other recruiting news, Nate Willis one of the top JC CBs has decomitted from South Florida and is also looking at ASU. Also Cole Luke of Hamilton according to Scout.com may reconsider ASU but I think this kid leaves the state.

According to Scout.com, Brophy Prep WR Devon Allen has ASU in his Final 3 with Stanford & UCLA. Stanford makes sense with graduating from Brophy, UCLA has a lot of Arizona kids interested because of the former ASU coaches currently on their staff. ASU has a pretty good track team and Allen does want to compete in both sports so its hard to say where he'll end up.

UCLA has a lot of Arizona kids interested because of Adrian Klemm and Broussard. UCLA has a lot of kids interested, period, because of Klemm. He was the recruiter June Jones was going to bring from SMU. When that whole thing fell apart, he joined Mora's staff at UCLA. Klemm is possibly the best recruiter in the country.

FWIW, this is an either/or for Allen. ASU is going to finish 3rd one way or another. I don't think they're in the picture, and doesn't matter whether ASU beats UCLA or not.

I think he's actually 285 now and probably still growing. Heard he's probably going to grow into more of a RT than a LT.

Landed commitments from the Latu brothers. Nice linebacker prospects, inside and outside.

Wow, awesome! Welcome Rancho Cucamonga CA! Just love saying that.

It looks like we are putting together a decent class.

It will be interesting to see if we can keep all these QB's happy though. Taylor Kelly is looking more and more like he could evolve into the next Jake Plummer, his stats are already better at this stage. He's a Sophomore, with Freshman Eubanks, potentially the second coming of Cam Newton, right behind him. I understand that Bervo... (sp? sorry) is red shirting the year in hopes of getting a year as a starter before he is done here. And we'll have big time recruit Dobbs coming in as a Freshman next year.

The competition and depth will be great, but I wouldn't be surprised if some egos get damaged in the process, a transfer or two takes place, but such is the nature of college football I guess.
