Hudson batted 3rd early in the season and had a lot of success I remember. I haven't given up hope on Quentin, but if he doesn't improve it sure is great to have probably the best group of young outfielders in the league. At least one of Upton or Gonzalez should be able to take his place. :)

I agree... however, how much more poorly does Quentin need to perform before the D-Backs say "uncle"?? He needs some serious coaching/instruction...

Well right when you said that he batted in the go ahead run, but I do agree with you.

Holy cow, a runner in scoring position and Snyder blew it- who's surprised?

Randy could only go 6? Hate to be the negative one, but I see the team having a hard time keeping a one-run lead through3 innings with the bullpen. Get two more runs and it should be enough to take the game. Since SD and LA both lost again today, we just need to get this one for it to be a "productive" series.

EDIT: Oh, I thought that the Dodger game was over when I checked the scores.... It is 11-5 Toronto in the ninth. Should be a win.

Randy threw over 100 pitches I believe due to some runners getting on, errors, etc. Randy isn't the Randy of 2001 when I was surprised if he didn't go 8, youll just have to get used to that for the next year or two. If Randy goes 6 and gives up 1, say thank you sir, and hope they can hold on.

I am hoping AND saying thank you. It's been the bullpen screwing up the last couple of losses (or should I say wins?).

They just brought him up from AAA when they sent Medders down. This is all I know about him, also he seems to be hispanic and he throws a slider. I know nothing else. Why are you interrogating me?
Not interrogating, I'm just ignorant.... He is Dominican, and if he can get outs, I don't care what he throws. :)

I know its probably not fair to rag on a guy after his first game off the DL but isn't this where he left off before he got "hurt?"

Earlier this game they said he was hitting like 340 or something crazy high there for a while.

While I hate the DH, it will benefit the Dbacks coming up here, they can have both Tracy and Reynolds in the line up, allowing the team to see each of them, perhaps after this AL series they can make a decision about who should be at 3B.

EDIT: You know ump, of all people, Manny Ramirez really doesn't need your generosity at the plate.

Well, it looks like I'll only get the 2 out of 3 I was originally hoping for. Oh well. At least the Sox get to go back home (to face the Rockies).

As for the D-Backs, please go kick some Spankee Arse!!!!! :D

Young knocks him home getting out of his little slump I hope.

I have to say, if the Dbacks hang on to win this one, and they pushed the Sox to extras last night, thats pretty impressive for such a young team.

EDIT: Jose Valverde trying his best to blow it

Game over, 5-1 Dbacks win. Arizona back in a tie for first place. Another win in the series would have been nice, but all in all not too bad of an effort against one of the best teams in the game. This is the first series the Dbacks have dropped since facing Colorado May 21-23.

Good game and good "growing up" series. It would be nice and the team is good enough to get 5 out of the next 9, but with how hot the Yankees have been and how the Devil Rays have played against us it'll be tough. The Pads and Dodgers are struggling more than we were though so I wouldn't worry about our spot in the division much.

Valverde is nowhere near the allstar pitcher that everyone makes him out to be. It's only a matter of time before he implodes again. You can just sense it.

I have that feeling, too. But how do you remove a closer who is among the league leaders in saves?

I'm afraid that Bob Melvin is too flacid to take charge of that situation. It looks like it's going to take Papa Grande, the unpredictable one, to blow it before a change is made. And it will probably come at a most inopportune time.
