You just don't replace a guy that's getting the job done even if he does make it more interesting. He hasn't even had 2 bad outings in a row this season and if he does he will be replaced.

Just back from the game!

Impressions:

Red Sux fans are the second worse in the majors, and gaining ground on the Yankme's. Win a WS more than once every 86 years, then pop off...

Not sure why the complaints about Quentin. He hit well tonight - nice double, and laid down a PERFECT bunt.

Byrnes!!! Byrnes!!! Love that guy!!

Why the heck is Chris Snyder still around? Bases loaded, 1 out - weak out :bang:

I'm not down on Valverde, at least for this game. The he threw three straight pitches that were strikes, but called balls. The umpiring this series has been atrocious.

Dbacks really should have won last night. Took care of the best team in baseball tonight. The team is close, very close to contending.

Jon, for the year, Quentin is barely above the Mendoza line... On the balance, he looks completely lost at the plate and his mechanics are as if he never played minor league ball before??
I'd be surprised if he lasts much longer...

Oh - and immediately after the Series win, Red Sux fans quickly surpassed Yankee fans as the WORST in the league...

Where did you sit Dback Jon? I sat in section 111 row 24.

A bunch of Red Sox fans around us. Two people from our section had to be removed from the game.

Snyder is useless. Bases loaded and one out and he strike out. He has to at least get a sacrifice fly. I like Papa Grande but I believe the Diamondbacks could shop Valverde and maybe get a big bat. I believe Pena can be a very good closer.

I have that feeling, too. But how do you remove a closer who is among the league leaders in saves?

I'm afraid that Bob Melvin is too flacid to take charge of that situation. It looks like it's going to take Papa Grande, the unpredictable one, to blow it before a change is made. And it will probably come at a most inopportune time.

I'm in the anti-Melvin crowd, but how anyone can get on him for not replacing Valverde before things go bad is beyond me. The guy has had some not so great outings, but so has every closer in the majors this year. Maybe the Big Potato finally grew up this year and matured into a legit closer, maybe he'll just implode like he has before. But until he does, it would be foolish to replace him.

So I don't think this really warrants its own thread but:

Apparently Randy won't make the trip to NYC, due to his back hurting. Though Im sure he just doesn't want to deal with the "Randy returns to NY" crap either.

It was apparently the decision of Josh Byrnes and Melvin, they don't want him going on unnecessary road trips.

I used to like the Red Sox a little because they played the Yankees a lot and I always root for any team playing the Yankees but not anymore.

They're just Evil Empire Jr. now. I bet 75% of those "Red Sox Fans" weren't fans before they won the championship and increased their payroll to a billion dollars.

No way there are that many New England transplants living in AZ that go to baseball games. Bandwagon fans that don't even live in the same city as their team are LOSERS.

Nope, Sox fans have definitely become the worst. It's one thing having some BS sense of entitlement when you have won 27 World Series in the last 100 years. It's another when you have won fewer than the Florida Marlins since the outbreak of World War I and you act like your team is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I can't wait for the Halos to whip their ass this October and shut these clowns up.

It's also funny how I never see any Celtics fans running around US Airways acting like idiots yet you can't throw a rock without hitting a Red Sox or Patriots fan. And here all this time these Northeasterners have been telling us how Beantown fans were the best in the world.

Okay, I have to come to the defense of the Red Sox nation here. First let me say that I am a bigger D-bax fan than I am a Red Sox fan but I do love the Red Sox too. I have many of friends that are Red Sox friends and none of us are obnoxious like the people you all are talking about. Every "big name team" is going to have their fair share of bandwagon fans. But real Bo Sox fans are some of the best fans in the world. Don't judge us all by what some idiots do.

Don't tell me what to do. See just another example of obnoxious Red Sox fans.

I was at the game myself (308, row 17) and surrounded by Red Sox fans. Fortunately, a majority of them were good natured and complimentary to the team and organization as a whole.
