This makes total sense. The Redskins desperately need a QBOF and a cheap option due to cap constraints. I can see them and the Giants getting into a mini-bidding war for Rosen.

I would be pissed off and amazed at our ineptitude if Rosen is traded for less than a 1st round pick.

Washington and Miami would be my preferred destinations if we were to trade JR. Neither of these franchises would ever make us regret it.

In serious need of help at quarterback and with speculation floating around that the Cardinals might trade last year’s first-round pick, Gruden was naturally asked about Rosen at the league meetings.

From NBC Sports Washington’s JP Finlay:

“We scouted Josh for sure,” Gruden said. “Josh is a good football player, but he’s not on our team, so no reason to talk about him, is there?” Asked what if Rosen became available, Gruden again laughed it off.

“Well, he’s not available. If Tom Brady becomes available, maybe we should talk to him too.”

Sounds like there would be genuine interest on Gruden's part.

Keim can put end to this by saying Rosen will cost a Top 10 pick, that will end everyone doing their diligence. No one will offer that.

But then he would be showing his cards to the entire league. At this point no one knows what we're doing. So maybe some one steps up and throws a crazy deal at us for #1.... or maybe someone throws us a crazy offer for JR. SK is wise to keep his mouth shut until the right offer for either or presents itself.

Actually it wouldn’t be tipping his hand. He would put that out there knowing no one is going to trade a pick that high for Rosen. If a team offered the moon Keim would trade Rosen and right now a Top 10 pick would be asking for the moon for Rosen in the minds of GMs around the league.

But then he would tip his hat and admit he's taking Murray, thus minimizing the value of the #1 pick. Whereas if a team wants Bosa (Oak) they currently would think they would have to have the #1 pick to take him..... silence is currently best on all fronts no matter what the plan is.

This would be like asking for 3 first round picks for Larry. Keim wouldn’t admit to taking Murray because there would be no deal for Rosen because the price would be too high. Again it’s like saying we would have to be blown away by an offer to trade Rosen.

I would be shocked if we get a 1st round pick for JR. 2nd or 3rd most likely.......... https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/04/02/washington-floated-as-a-josh-rosen-destination/

Here's another link to this. I seriously doubt we get a 1st round pick for Rosen. He lists Redskins 2nd rounder #46. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/04/02/washington-floated-as-a-josh-rosen-destination/

Pure speculation...how would he know trade compensation?

Giants - Need Rosen after trading OBJ. They have 2 #1 picks and can get QBOF (Manning clone) and a defensive player at #6. Lots to be excited about.

Redskins - Gruden likes Rosen and doesn't want a rookie QB. They would have to pay a rookie 2x what Rosen is making, since we already paid the majority of contract. They have massive cap issues and Rosen fits perfectly for those reasons.

I don't think we will get a #1, #3, and #5 but we simply can't let Rosen go for less than a #1. How would Keim survive that?

SK would be a fool to trade JR for less then a 1st, besides looking completely incompetent. JR would at worst be the 3rd rated QB in this years draft, and there will most likely be 4 taken in the 1st round.

Everybody seems to have forgotten the Raiders are in qb salary hell. Carr is costing them a bunch of money and a trade for Rosen just doesn’t seem like an huge upgrade if at all. If the raiders trade up it will be for Bosa. With the 4th pick if Murray is there it’s decision time. If someone trades in front of us for Murray we stick with Rosen. If that happens We might be able to coax the Giants to move up to 4 if the truly want Haskins for another couple of picks. I trust kingsbury to run this offense with either Murray or Rosen. One would look a little different from the other. I don’t care if you are in the Rosen camp or the Murray camp, if you don’t see some question marks in either one you’re kidding yourself.

We will know soon enough on the eighth when players report for voluntary workouts. No way a QB going into his second year with a new coach does he not show up unless he knows he is being traded or Murray is the pick. I also doubt the Cardinals would not tell him because he is the one person which has to know out of professional courtesy. If he shows, it means they had the 'talk' and they are not taking Murray... I know I would not show up and learn a new playbook if I was getting cut or traded or if Cards say we do not want to risk you getting hurt to affect trade value

I don’t know JG. It is voluntary and I read somewhere that the first week would be mainly weight training. It would look a little conspicuous.

TheCardFan, why would Rosen be a qbof for the Giants and not us?

I think he is but I am also open to the idea that Murray can be too.

The debate rages on...post after post after post.

At the end of the day, we all want the same thing...a great QB and a winning team.

Pro-Rosens and Pro-Murrays are both speculating on what might be.

Rosen had the worst situation ever for a rookie QB
Rosen could still have played better
Murray dominated CFB
Murray has never played a down in the NFL and lacks ideal size

To answer your question, Rosen is somebody's QBOF.

The real question is how do the Cardinals view Rosen vs Murray.

Bottom line - we wouldn't be having this conversation/debate if we didn't have KK/Air Raid.

But being there's a new coach and only in your second year, you show up even if it's a voluntary ping pong match haha... if he's not there, I'm virtually penciling in Murray as our selection in the first

If Murray isn't the pick and Rosen isn't traded this is BY FAR craziest offseason ever

Been wondering that too, at what point, if not already, do we cross the line where LeBron and the Lakers did with Anthony Davis where they pissed off the entire team and wound up not getting Davis(yet). In this case if we don't take Murray how much potential damage have we done to the relationship with Rosen, will the team have confidence in him etc.

As Chris Sanders pointed out, David Carr had it worse. He didn't even have a receiver the caliber of Kirk and his offensive line was well.....offensive.
Hmmm. And then went in to have a great season and sign a big contract. The raiders didn’t kick him to the curb after one year.

Rosen already got butthurt enough to remove every Cardinal pic from his Instagram.
