Referees admit they made a mistake!

Pay them whatever they want, they are able to generally remember the rules correctly. I can't even imagine the kind of storm that Goodell would be subject to had we LOST the game. I think Whiz and Mikey B might actually have come unglued for once.

That was about the closest I've ever seen where the refs totally lost control of the game AND the crowd! My whole section was about to jump on the field! Incredibly pathetic!!

Oh man. That was second to back at SDS when I think it was Adub got ejected from a game against the niners (I think) after two personal fouls. The stadium (and me included) rained debris on the field. It led to one of my most favorite ******* fan memories...one of the niner players caught a water bottle in the endzone like a TD pass and spiked it. I stopped being anarchist number 1 and started lmfao. It was awesome. SDS was the pits, man...there were several times we peppered the endzone there.

Tonight with that crap right in front of our endzone, it felt more like a SDS moment was about to break out than ever before.

My favorite was on the first bogus PI call on Peterson. The closest ref grabs his flag then leaves it in until he looks around and seeing another ref throw his flag from halfway across the field grabs his again and throws his as well.

Man I feel sorry for those FCS teams that have these fools for referees on a regular basis.

if I understand this correctly... regardless of whether they got the call right or not... the rules are there is NO penalty if you call a TO that you don't have? How is that not unsportsmanlike conduct or delay of game?! at that point, it should be punitive... seriously punitive, like a 10 second run off and loss of down.

Well, we had a delay of game penalty for calling two timeouts in a row, which I didn't even know was a rule. It seems crazy that a team can call timeout, stop the clock, even if they don't have one. What's to stop teams now from trying to call timeouts at the end of games even though they are out of them?


Surely this situation is going to be addressed by the rules committee in the offseason. Because that was blanking terrible.

I would assume if refs know there are no timeouts remaining they can ignore the coach or tell him he doesn't have any left to call and let the game continue. But I do agree that there should be a penalty in place to stop this from happening. Fortunately for ARZ it did not cost them the game.

I'd think there should be a penalty for calling a timeout when you don't have any, but it didn't sound like an uncommon occurrence from what Mike Pereira was saying. It just hasn't been an issue before because the refs know not to grant a timeout if there are none remaining(and know what should constitute a timeout).

Hindsight is 20/20. We won. Who knows, maybe if there was no timeout amidst the chaos Seattle gets a TD. Probably not but who cares. We won.

The funny thing is, I was watching on Fox and they have the expert ref to give insight on what they feel is going on and what they feel the call should be. Well after the replacement refs gave their explanation that SEA still had a timeout and that they would be charged their final time out to stop the clock, the FOX expert ref immediately responded "they are incorrect, the injury to Baldwin under 2 minutes became a timeout but unfortunately the damage is done as there is no penalty for teams to call a time out when they do not have any remaining. The delay in trying to determine the timeout situation stopped the clock for SEA and allowed them to regroup" Total BS and I did not know there is no penalty for calling a time out when you don't have any, Chris Webber probably thought he was playing in the NFL in 1992 NCAA final.

It should be ruled a flagrant foul on the offending team, with the opposition granted two free throws (I mean field goals) from the twenty yard line and possession of the ball.

I'd be careful with that wish. The Cards would then be bound to make that mistake at just the most inopportune time.
