Last night on Sportcenter Sean Salisbury and Eric Allen were debating what the Texans should do if they get the first pick. Sean said they should take Bush. Allen said they should trade down for an offensive lineman. I am curious as to this boards opinion. Also do any of you guys question if Bush can take a beating in the NFL behind a bad line?

You can't beat what you can't catch. He's one of the rare backs that will make his line better. That being said, they darn sure better address the line in the offseason!!!

My roomates and I have been having this argument for the past few days.

My case is this. The Texans have around 20 mil in cap.

Draft Bush 1st round

Draft T Jeremy Trueblood (BC) 2nd round

Draft G Will Montgomery (Va Tech) 3rd round

Throw everything you have at LeCharles Bently and or Steve Hutchinson.

You now have a dynamic offense. Carr at QB, with Johnson on the outside. Davis at RB, Bush in the slot and backfield. Not to mention Carr finally has the makings of an offensive line if they can sign Bently or Hutch.

I don't think NFL team will want to take the risk of pulling a "We-coulda-had-Michael-Jordan-but-drafted-Sam-Bowie" disaster.

The Texans will take him number one unless he has a terrible injury in the Rose Bowl.

He's a marvelous player but I think he's officially become overrated with this recent blitz of attention. Did people not notice how bad Fresno State and UCLA's defense are this year?

UCLA alone gave up 260 yards to Jerome Harrison, 150 to Marshawn Lynch, 100 + to Justin Forsett(same game). UCLA has one of the worst rushing defenses in the country this year, just as they did last year. A guy as fast as Bush, with a star studded OL, going up against UCLA, is bound to go nuts like he did.

I think Bush is a stud and I'd love to get him as a Cardinal but when people start saying best RB ever I get a little surprised.

Problem is...

1. The Texans only got about $14M and will probably have a $6.5M rookie pool, leaving around 8M to re-sign their FAs and outside FA like Hutch.

2. Even if they upgrade the OL, how does that help the D?

I live in Fresno and their defense was very solid. I believe they went into the SC game ranked 11th nationally in yards allowed. I know UCLA was crap, but Pat Hill prides himself on his defense, and they were solid until USC got ahold of them.

Just remember, GREAT players make the talent seem much better than they
are. Bush would make any team around him that much better. I know he
hasn't played in the NFL, but how many times have you seen Reggie take a
big hit! I have yet to see it happen. Barring injury he will be great.

They should trade down, get some more picks and then draft Ferguson. That team is definatley more than one player away. And even Barry Sanders could only take the Lions so far.

I think the texans should trade down a few spots.. Dominic Davis would be a 1300-1500 yrd back with an average OL.. Carr will be better with an average OL.. They could trade a few spots down or even trade a couple of times and pick up good quaility players and more picks.. Then improve there OL in the offseason and draft.

ps:: they won't get Hutchison, because he will be the LG for the AZ Cardinals next year.// go cards

As the new Head Coach of the Houston Texans, Pete Carroll will surely draft Reggie Bush.

Pete Carroll will stay at USC this year, then the following year coach the Los Angeles Saints.

Yeah the "best RB ever" stuff is way over the top but I am not so sure he is becoming over-rated or something. I mean, the dude can flat out play and NFL scouts are always trying to project how a player will be at the NFL level and I think he makes a very smooth, productive transition.

The Texans would be foolish to trade down...unless they somehow pulled a deal that was actually better than the whole number system that is floating around out there for trading picks. OL can be had all during the draft, in FA and even amongst UDFA's. They should take Bush. better to go draft the best player and have him be a bust than to, as aj said, pass on Michael Jordan to get Sam Bowie.

I don't know. Carroll couldn't be ahotter commodity than this year.

Next year USC needs to replace, 3 key players on offense. Bush, Matt and Lindale. Pac 10 is on the rise. Houston will throw a ton of money at Pete. There are good palyers in Houston. Just a coach who can't coach a lick of offense. They have a damned good QB, 3 good WRs and some nice draft position coming up. Texans are young.

No, the question is, does Dan Reeves like Bush? ;)
or does Dan Reeves like Pete Carroll.

or does Dan Reeves like Dan Reeves. Guarantee you Reeves won't take Vincent Young, a RB/QB after Vick caused his firing. ...but he just might take Bush. If he were me, which he ain't ... trade down for multi picks. 5 stud RBs in this draft, one of which they need. They really need Ferguson or Winston at LT.

They should draft Bush and trade Davis on draft day for another pick.
