Careful with Cleveland. Don't let it be last years Buffalo game. I think you guys can still make it but you can't screw around this year. Got to finish strong. Good luck.

Anyone see the episode of "Inside the NFL" where Chris Carter interviewed Larry Johnson?

Compelling stuff there, Johnson admits that he and Vermeil had a rocky relationship and that Johnson gets along and recieves coaching from Herm Edwards better because they are both African-American men who's shared experience in that regard makes Herm more identifiable for Johnson.

That led to a interesting but unfinished debate between Costas and Carter after the interview.

It made huge headlines here in KC. We have all been talking about it for about 3 days. It got leaked. And this town is just one huge debate at the moment.

Coincidence - I'm in the midst of watching a rerun the Blue Springs (KC) v. CBC (StL) HS Championship game and am in the midst of the first Blue Springs possession - Going from what I've seen so far, Blue Springs looks about 40 points better.

It seemed like LJ was throwing Vermeil under the bus. Costas kept trying to make that point with Carter, who would then seem to get really pissed off and categorically deny that was what LJ was doing without explaining why. They implied that LJ felt he was always waiting on the bench while some clueless white coach like Vermeil or Paterno just could not recognize that untapped talent. To me, I'm thinking anyone with a healthy Priest Holmes, is going to keep any untried rookie on his bench until he has to play him. Overall the whole thing seemed kind of sour and racist and it made me think how something like that would go if the black coach was losing the way Dennis Green has here. IMHO, for the most part, arguments about race are settled out on the field by winning. You might just barely, be able to get away with an interview like that in KC when they are still in the playoffs hunt. But only because of the success, not because most people agree with it.

I didn't see nor have I read any of the stuff that Larry Johnson has said but.....'if Vermeil was playing a white guy ahead of LJ perhaps then he might have a point. I've had a lot of thoughts about Vermeil through the years (classy competitor, weepy crybaby) but using a players race as criteria to play or not to play or him being a racist just isn't one of 'em. Sounds like sour grapes from LJ. Let it go dude. Live in the now and be grateful for what you have today. Everything happens for a reason.

The idea wasn't about Vermeil's attitude towards race, but Johnson's. Larry J couldn't recieve critisism or coaching from Vermeil because Vermeil couldn't identify with Johnson because Vermeil could not relate to being an African-American man. Johnson's able to accept Edward's tutalage because Johnson says Edwards identifies with him better.

I am originally from the KC area and was at the triple OT thriller with Miami can't remember the year. I like having two favorite teams one in the AFC and the Cards in the NFC. Maybe in the next couple of years we will see each other in the SB.

Actually it was the 1971 playoffs and double overtime not tripple. It still stands as the longest NFL game

Sorry but thats the way it was.

Hmmmm never heard that from any of Vermeil's other black players. Maybe LJ has a hangup with white authority figures?

I live in Blue Springs, we went to about 3 games this year, they aren't just good they're crushing good, I saw one of the best pulling guard plays I've ever seen run by that team, a backup guard came in for an injured player, they still ran the play, the back guard hit a LBer as hard as I've ever seen anyone in HS hit another player and it went for a TD, just flawless execution.

if you can't beat the browns, what makes you think they are going to beat the ravens. it is just not going to happen. i don't even think it is going to be close. poor trent green and company are going to have their hands full. i am pretty sure lj is going to have a 50 yard game. all those people with larry johnson on their fanasty roster should sit this man.

I think they'll beat Balto. They lost to a crappy Buffalo team last year about this time, managed to come back and finish 10-6. Plus, if Balto can't win in Cinncinatti why would anyone think they can win in Arrowhead? Every team except Cinci has gotten beat up in that place this year. Including San Diego who are at least as good at Balto.

Its called playing to the level of yoru competition. We have gone into Baltimore and smoked them twice in there own place. No one gave us a shot. THe Chiefs are embarrassed and I thinkn the Ravens are in trouble. Im not saying it will be easy. I just think there gonna reopen the offense a bit. Like we havnt seen since last year. No point in saving it anymore. Time to let it rip.

Why not? Nobody thought we could beat the Bears and we should have.

It's the NFL..anything can happen.
