Come on now, don't you know that technology and a good medical staff can see the future. Looks at Greg Oden and Brandon Roy, see what Portland was able to do with their bad knees.

Because a degenerative knee condition is equal to an ACL?

Do I need to mention that at the time, Gay & Adams were the only options we had that were still playing and had a contract into next year? Fleming had his playing time drastically reduced while Toler saw more and more of the field as the season went on.

Hell..... I would have extended him immediately after the game where he saved us that fumble going out of bounds.

Meanwhile Johnson & Toler were both entering FA, our rookie was getting his snaps cut, and Gay was crapping all over the field in coverage.

Seriously..... There is enough foreshadowing here for a major motion picture.

Hey Dr don't forget the Cards released Beanie Wells just because Arians didn't like him, without knowing how Ryan Williams, who has only played 5 games in his 2 year career, is going to come off his knee injury. :D

There are reasonable replacements available but the only time the Cardinals have ever won anything was when they had a roster loaded with veterans who had several years under their belts playing for Arizona.

I guess if guys like Kolb and Rashad and RWilliams really step up it could be that way this year.

Point is - once upon a time we had a bunch of talented but raw corners. Regardless of whatever excuses the FO wants to come up with, it's a fact that we no longer have DRC, Jefferson, another small-school corner (whose name escapes me) and now Toler.

We've gone from feast to famine and are now down to Fleming and maybe Adams opposite PP. This is, pure and simple, incompetent FO personnel management no matter how you cut it.

DRC sucked in 2 cities.Colts are crazy giving Toler 5 million a year.Jefferson riding the pine in Minnesota.Marshay Green cut several times. So tell me again about this great pile of CB talent Cards lost.

What is lost in all of this is that the Cards cut Gay who started over Toler and only cost 3.5 mil, and then watched Toler get 5 mil per year on the open market. Maybe Gay at 3.5 mil was a good option after all.

I really didn't care if Toler stayed or left. He's a decent CB who's a little old for his experience level and struggles with consistency. I'm sure there's another one of those out there for under $5 million.

According to that article we don't even have a need..lol

This article was recently updated but came out a couple of weeks ago. He does say that the Cardinals were interested in bringing Toler back. Also he mentions Cason would be a good fit for the Cardinals.

I'm all for keeping our guys that can play and I'd much rather have kept Toler over Johnson. However, I heard Parcells talking the other day and he was saying that, for whatever reason, big name CB's have the highest fail rate in free agency and it's buyer beware.

That said, Toler isn't a big name FA but I wish we had kept him.

I love me some Greg Toler but $5 million per year is too much for a guy coming off a serious injury. Colts are gambling he stays healthy. With all their salary cap space it's a good gamble for a solid young cornerback. For the Cardinals the gamble and cost are just too high IMO.

CB Greg Toler gets three years, $14.25 million, with $5 million guaranteed from Colts.

More contract details...

The big issue here is that the organization had two things it new it was going to do.

#1 release William Gay
#2 Release A-DUB

We should have signed Toler before either were done, he should never have hit the FA market. Before all this happened the organization could have offered a 3 year 11 mil deal, with a 4.5 mil bonus, this year 1 mil salary, then 2.5 mil, then 3.5 mil, with the final year being a club option due to his injury concern. Low cap figure, good price for a guy with serious potential, good size, speed, tackling and cover skills. Had a very good second year 90 tckl, 1 sck, 2 int, 9 PD, 2 FF, 1 TD, was good in limited action year 3 and progressed as season and healing went on.

NO ONE WANTS TO COME HERE, THIS TEAM IS WHERE CAREERS GO TO DIE......AT LEAST FOR NOW.
