whatevs - and I don't think telling someone m,y opinion is attacking, especially in light of most of the rest of the baord agreeing that to blame last night's performance on officiating is pretty ridiculous. It's a matter of putting things into perspective and when people are acting like Kingsfans, it's the perfect way to describe them.

I just want to get something straight about what I was trying to say in this thread. I'm not trying to blame the loss on the officiating. I'm just saying it was certainly a factor in the loss, and I think it is equally ridiculous to criticize the Phoenix Suns like many of you have for attacking the basket and Yao Ming. I think it was the right to do. The frustrating thing was that they were calling the fouls fairly and relatively correctly until Yao Ming picked up his fourth. Then they went in to complete protection mode.

There's no conspiracy theory here cheese. It's the same crap that's been going on in the NBA for several years. It doesn't take Fox Mulder to know that the referees do not like to foul superstars out of the games. It's just that Friday's game seemed a little worse to me. I had to watch the game again last night... this time with the Houston commentators. Even they were they said several times how Yao Ming "got away with one" in the fourth quarter.

I just don't think it's fair to criticize the Suns for refusing to settle for outside shots when they have the other team's most important player in foul trouble going into the fourth quarter. I get to watch the game again today possession by possession, so I'll let you know if my opinion changes. :)

Tough loss.

--It was obvious that Yao wasn't going to foul out in the fourth quarter, but it was the Suns' fault they kept going after him. They should have gone to plan B and set themselves up for outside shots (especially threes).

--Speaking of which, I was against Amare developing a three-point shot until this game. Now, I can hardly wait until he's out there, bombing from behind the arc...when Amare has that shot, it puts Yao in an impossible position.

--The single (main) reason the Suns lost? No Marion. Shawn Marion always kills the Rockets. Plus, he might be the best McGrady defender on the team, so his presence discourages JVG from going small.

--The defensive rotations looked slow and lethargic. McGrady didn't have to work very hard for his 37, and the Rockets didn't have to work too hard for their 120. If they want to win these game in the future, the Suns have to figure out a way to hold defense-oriented teams like the Rockets and Spurs to 110 or less.

--Nash hasn't looked good at all lately, and the Suns aren't running nearly as effectively as they were earlier in the season. Nash has a history of trying to play through injuries. If I were in charge, I would be looking for any excuse to sit Nash for another two weeks, at least.

Oh yeah, did I mention I was ?
