Nope, wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.

Life>Football

lol you say that like they are at some kind of risk. At most they would have a cold for a few days like the thousands of players that had Covid except Ryquell Armstead.

An Oregon study has just confirmed that breakthrough covid cases do provide vastly increased defense against the disease. So sooner is definitely better than later for teams to have covid outbreaks.

Bc you know, screw that guy. And maybe all of the people these players come into contact with that may not be so lucky.

Oh giycha

The message the NFL sent with doing literally nothing to Rodgers said everything about what the league really cares about.

one thing Christine Brennan pointed out, the SB this year is in LA, California has the strictest Covid rules in the country. She said do NOT be surprised if the NFL looks at moving the game out of California because it's entirely possible by the time that game is played, fans won't be allowed to attend events in California. They're already heavily restricted now vaccination requirements etc but she's thinking it's entirely possible California goes back to the earlier rules about such events

the advantage So Fi has is it's indoor/outdoor so they can open it up to make it safer and that's very likely going to come into play if they get to that step of considering moving the game.

The English Premier League (soccer for those that don't know) is considering doing a 'fire break' where they pause the season for a short period in order to try to get Covid back under control. They have had to cancel like 10+ games already this week/weekend.

NFL should strongly consider the same, even if that means we have have a late Feb or even March SuperBowl.

It's completely different though. The EPL teams only have 25 player rosters. You have to put out like 20 of them for a game (11 players and 9 subs). So even if you lose 6 players you can't do that.

NFL teams have 68 available players (53 + 15) plus a bunch of instantly signable street free agents that soccer simply doesn't have.

Sure but as Christine Brennan pointed out last night at a certain point you're completely diminishing the product. Fans didn't buy season tickets to see your practice squad QB and a RB who was working at Amazon a few weeks ago. Right now the WFT doesn't have a QB on their roster who's not in Covid protocols, they apparently separate the one on the practice squad now for that very reason but apparently he was already on the Covid list so they're hoping one of their 3 tests negative in time to play this weekend or they won't have a QB.

We all want to see the games but if the product is going to be severely watered down because so many players are out, at a certain point it's just guys wearing the uniform not the actual team. that's where taking a pause makes some sense you can give the team time to get everyone back negative and bubbled.

After two seasons with the covid 19 we can say the product hasn't diminished yet
WFT doesn't have a real starter qb in any case
Best teams are still in the top, sometimes the covid protocol is against u the next week is the opposite, 1 game doesn't change much in the regular season, vaccinated player are normally ready to go after missing a game
Different story in the playoff, and the bubble should be the solution

WFT currently has 21 players on the Covid list plus guys out with injuries etc. They don't have 25 NFL quality caliber backups ready to go. They currently have 11 starters on the Covid list and I think 5 other starters out with injury. So they have SIX starters that could start today if the game was played today.

if the trend continues in this direction it will be like that around the league.

What if some of these teams being in so much hot water with covid is because they aren't as vaccinated as they thought they were. We can't be naive to think that Antonio Brown and that one other guy on Tampa Bay were the only two players with fake vaccine cards.

They also must follow the mainly rules to limit the spread of the virus, i see less masks and more chatting at close range, i can't imagine outside the field
More awareness is needed, coach and players

Exactly, Reiner said exactly that on CNN last night, Myron Rolle earlier in the week. They don't know what the actual vaccination rate is

yes but also the NFL has a much shorter and much more rigid structure than the NFL and we are passed bye weeks so we can't use them.

And you can't just say pause and push everything back a few weeks. Things like the superbowl take a year of planning. The stadium will have other events booked, you can;t push the SB if they have Springstein playing. Things like catering, security, TV scheduling, event staff. hotel bookings, flights and a million other tiny things are all set in stone for that weekend.

I don't think the NFL has any choice but to plod on.

The only saving grace is Omicron seems to come and go much quicker. Quicker to start, quicker to run its course. I think some of the early Rams and Browns players have a chance to clear.

Another point on this, somebody else above mentioned fans in the stands at the games, where teams who are playing or having covid issues... It is a little odd that we aren't hearing of any covid tracing of positive cases, being traced back to sporting events. At least I haven't heard of anything. I would think that would make huge headlines, if it were the case.

Nobody wants to look at that. Contact tracing pretty much doesn't exist anymore. The numbers are far too massive.

I don't mean push back I mean cancel. Just don't play those 2 games. Sucks for us since we play Detroit but every team has played 13 games now so if you just drop 2 and play 15 it's as fair as you can be. Then you don't have to move the playoffs or SB.

And yes that's the hope that some of these guys clear in time

What you don't want is Trace McSorley vs Kurt Benkert in the NFC championship game for the right to the SB.

There's 1 win between everyone in the AFC East. You cancel that game you are giving an advantage to someone.

Heck, the Browns themselves might say they would rather play it.

Diminished product better than no product right?

Omicron won't effect the SB. It's going to flash through everyone like lightning.

We don't even know if the current NFL surge is Omicron I don't think they're testing for which variant yet.

Article in the NYT today says researchers say immunities from prior Covid infections, including Delta, offer very little protection against Omicron.

At the very least the NFL should be testing every team right now completely, all the players and personnel. And then the ones who test positive they should find out which variant so they know how big the problem is.

Considering the Xmas time
Another is over and new one just begun
Too early to predict better times on the horizon

Yeah... it might be right at its peak around SB time. Who knows.

I would almost have our best players get Covid now after Detroit. If we win this Sunday we clinch. But no way you want to go into the playoffs with your star players on the Covid list.
